Thread: Financial Armageddon for many.

I saw one small bit of initiative last night I was glad to support. Went to our favourite fish restaurant last night and got chatting to the manager. Their numbers are down and getting increasingly more so. They were offering gift tokens for future use with 10% off in an effort to at least keep some cash coming in. There were plenty of takers and we have sent it around a few text groups etc.

At a place I recently stayed I noticed something that was very new to me. The inside toilet door handle had a hand sanitiser in built. It was impossible to open the door without a decent amount of the stuff being directly dispensed onto your hand.

I've seen it a lot. Sainsburys toilet for example. I just imagine someone leaving and not washing their hands and then fingering all the bananas and fruit. The biggest problem for some is a complete lack of imagination. Like the house programmes where someone says I couldnt live here because I don't like the wallpaper. Cant imagine what it would look like refurbished, can't see the potential. Its the same with Germs, you can't see them so they can't be there!.....well they are. Its like russian roulette. Only a matter of time before you get the bullet and something nasty.

I am giving the pub a miss for a while, my wife is asthmatic and i am not taking chances. Fortunately we live away from town centres in clean air, we don't have to go to work or use public transport. I don't have to visit my mom for the time being as the care home has stopped visiting. We tend to stay clear of large supermarkets and shop local at around 9pm when the local Co Op is virtually empty. Advice is not to be less than two metres away from a person for more than fif**** minutes.

I’ve long avoided opening public toilet doors without covering my hand with my sleeve but that in itself is not enough as it’s then n the clothing.

In reality all toilets should now be fitted with a sanitising station outside the toilet door so that people can put some on their hands after leaving the toilet area.

I can see a law been brought in to mandate this sort of thing,if I was in government I would invoke this straight away.

The person who comes up with the most efficient and portable sanitising solution is going to become very rich very quickly.

It needs to be something that can be as fashionable as an Apple Watch or smart phone or headphones that can be perhaps worn as an accessory.

Went into the hospital Thursday Mick as no choice and no hand sanitizer in any of the dispensers and was told the public are nicking every drop!!! The hand sanitizers were not even automatic and you had to press - what’s the point in that from a hygienic point of view!

    1) Not washing hands after a pee is very much an English thing. At the Baggies (ok, not too many wash-hand basins) the majority of guys do NOT wash hands. By comparison, I returned from Canada in January and a hockey match (ice hockey for us) in Calgary, crowd 20,000, the non hand washers post piss were VERY MUCH in the minority...I’d guess less than 10% did not wash !
    2) Why do our external toilet doors (e.g. in pubs) open inwards when leaving ? Like many I use a finger to hook a corner of the door handle to pull door open. Surely better to push it open with an elbow/ foot ?
    Strange
