Yep. Simple is easy. Then throw in once every few month/weeks a bonus weekend.
If we have a runaway leader you can always bring back the handicap system of 2 season ago. This kept everyone interested right to the end.

Alternatively split the tourney up. August to December. December to may. The closer the game the more tend to play. And for longer.

You know me m8. I'm as easy as Sunday morning soawill join in whatever.

I'd do the following that should be easy to do manually.

10 games - all posters predict H,A,D for all 10. 1pt for each correct. Double points for all 10 correct. Either mix the 10 from different leagues or use a different league each week rather than just use our division. This also prevents worry about postponements as if one happens it impacts everyone not just those that picked a certain match.

Drop the goals scored as it's pretty random and is also impacted by postponements.

Publish in advance how many weeks there will be and how many weeks people can play e.g. 36 from 40, 40 from 46 etc. That gives someone a chance to miss a week by choice or by accident and not feel they've lost the chance to win. Focus on Saturdays and Bank Holiday fixtures and don't do mid-week.

Don't change or add rules half way through the season.
Cam, by heck you've thrown a few suggestions in there so let's go through them:

I agree on the H,A,D as initially mentioned by Parkgate, as this opens up more opportunities to score points. So we'll run it just like betting on the Pools. 1pt for each correct. Double points for all 10 correct. It is also a decent idea to use the four leagues and not just ours, as this creates variation and will have us all studying all leagues.

Drop the goals scored as it's pretty random and is also impacted by postponements.
I like Bramley's idea on this. I choose a random game, and if you get the score correct then you are awarded a bonus of 5 points. Saves a lot of time totting up the total goals scored from one league and if I'm choosing games from all four leagues, again it saves me time just looking up one fixture. Many may well get it right so it adds an incentive. I will look to choose a game with a good ground/pitch so more than likely, will not face postponement.

Publish in advance how many weeks there will be and how many weeks people can play e.g. 36 from 40, 40 from 46 etc. That gives someone a chance to miss a week by choice or by accident and not feel they've lost the chance to win. This all depends how many midweek fixtures the league put in. If Saturday games are affected then the league make them play midweek so, if a full Saturday is postponed it has to carry over and will have to be included as it forms part of the number of games played.

As for choosing how many games people want to play, it's a full season and if you miss any due to any unforeseen circumstances then it's no fault of the Prediction League. It ran pretty well last season and not many missed out posting. Similar leagues I know are run on that ruling so, it's all fair and above board before a season kicks off.

Saturdays and Bank Holiday fixtures and mid week, I feel should still run as again they form part of a full season. Over here the big one to do is 'Super 6'. It runs all season and has mid week fixtures. It has caught me out a couple of times but, I know the rules and only have myself to blame for not posting. Let's not complicate matters further, if you don't post then so be it.

Totally agree on not changing rules or adding bonuses through the season. They stay as they are from start to finish. LeedsMiller, gawd bless him, agreed to the extra points scoring to be added this season and it slightly closed the gap for some.

Thoughts please everyone who is interested in taking part.

I like this idea, a two part season. Some may lose interest in a full season so having two parts allows for some to drop if they so wish to do so. August to end of December and then January to May. It gives everyone a chance to win either League. Moreover, it will be interesting to see it start all over again in January.

If the two winners want to be crowned the 'Supreme Champion', then they can go head to head. I could then use a Wembley play off final as a decider. Should they both choose the same team to win, it can be further split by predicting what minute the first goal is scored and/or who scores the first goal, be it off either team that is in the final. That should be enough to split their choices.

Thought I'd bump this seeing as not much is going off elsewhere in the football world.
