The cinema was supposed to be built 20 years and has been delayed, then it should have been completed 2 years ago and delayed...I cant understand why it takes 3-4 years to build a very small scale development

Anyone else remember the "Rotherham Renaissance" project from the mid 2000s?

That had similar visions. Other than Tesco and of course their own offices bugger all happened.

Rotherham council need to make the short trip over here to Barnsley and see how you rejuvenate a town centre.

Quite a few traders said they were not going to pay the Barnsley indoor markets fees, & ceased
trading in Barnsley.
We used some stalls regularly in the inside market before the development, but they said they
would not be standing at the new indoor market with the rents etc.

Barnsley centre is like Oxford Street compared to Rotherham, as others have said nothing ever seems to get done, we've been getting a new cinema since Jaws came out.

Compared to Barnsley,Donny and Wakefield councils we have been so way behind for decades.Not fit for purpose,I can't think of one thing they have done that's improved the town and it's image.
