OT. Guest & Chrimes and Rotherham master plans

The Council's latest master plans, look like they include a public square at Guest & Chrimes?

    Attachment 19209

"The Town Investment Plan focuses on a number of schemes deliverable within five years. These include creating a Riverside Residential Quarter and better access to enjoy the waterfront; regenerating the Guest & Chrimes heritage site (cgi, top) to provide attractive public spaces and leisure facilities.

Proposals outlined last year stated that, building on current Rotherham Council residential developments in the area, "a number of other residential sites along Sheffield Road and also the Guest & Chrimes site across the river" could be brought forward."

Price on the project cinema, riverside is it? Goes up every year (well probably every week) so by the time that’s finished there won’t be any money

Rotherham council need to make the short trip over here to Barnsley and see how you rejuvenate a town centre.

Regen of the G&C site would be very welcome, but let's hope that some development across the river also takes place as it's a mess at the mo'.

A pedestrian bridge at this site would be welcome.

All talk and no action with Rotherham Council, except when they're covering up crimes.

Surely this is great news. Good for the town and good for the club. The taxpayer is subsidising the development of the area that the club has consistently said it can't afford or fund
As others have mentioned this might be the catalyst for development of the retail units and a pedestrian bridge etc. It might make these viable now.
Also that residential development at the old Sheff Rd baths site could become a decent investment opportunity now and are obviously linked in terms of these press releases

I hope Arup and White Young Green don't swallow up a large slice of the money in consultancy fees which can happen

    Great news on several points..........
Bridge over the river could open the NYS to more footfall....

C&G, if the council project goes ahead does that mean TS loses out or gain from no responsibility for the site?

Eastwood Village.......not again. How many time have they thrown money at this area? Clear the site like they did years ago with all St Annes/ Nottingham st areas'. Then sell it to property developers and build some nice houses.

I'll believe it when i see it though. They're bound to run out of money before they complete it all.

Step in the right direction though...............here's hoping...............

We has supporters mentioned the footbridge, when the NYS was built, it would have been ideal
to have it for away supporters, direct to buses in car park, then no mixing with home supporters.

The cinema was supposed to be built 20 years and has been delayed, then it should have been completed 2 years ago and delayed...I cant understand why it takes 3-4 years to build a very small scale development
