Lets see who we do get before deciding how good/bad this is.

Not sure, big decisions like that are usually more nuanced than just raw numbers (and would they be all that different?)

There's locations, personal relationships, bosses, histories with places - things that might factor in.

I was struck by the words Miller used in an interview - he had be brought in by IB and Ross then swiftly dropped (justifiably so, his performances were awful, see NCFCOGs ratings piece). Later he was brought back by IB and he didn't look back, but he said he was 'hurt' by losing his place, and he looked it too, not motivated to do better, but 'hurt'. I guess you never know what goes through a player's head. Even comments on a site like this could prompt a player to say **** 'em.

I think at our level it comes more down to money. Which I have no problem with btw, it’s a short career and the numbers players are earning in the National League are hardly massive, 1/200 quid a week adds up. Obviously stuff like location can factor in as well, but not when choosing between Notts and Chesterfield.

Something like your scenario is possible, but were something like that true then we shouldn’t really be bothered anyway.

My reading of what has happened for us transfer market wise for us so far is that we’ve secured a new contract for someone we know had league offers, and signed someone who had an offer from a promotion rival and likely league offers as well. We’ve also lost two players we’d have liked to have kept, one to a small club but in the division above and one two a direct rival. Suggests to me we have a competitive budget, but are being very deliberate in offering players deals we feel they’re worth, rather than just because it fits within what we can afford.

It is a refreshingly professional approach which I fully support.

I hope you're right, no reason to think you aren't.

Money's the main clincher of course, but with Reeves, Ellis and now Miller choosing to walk it's enough to know that, for whatever reasons, we are NOT a place that's so good you really have to be there if you can. Money yes, but you can be forgiven for asking if there are any other common denominators in the decisions to go elsewhere.

I’m not fussed by Miller going elsewhere. He had a few good games. Most players do over a period of time.
He is definitely a confidence player and one that could go missing when things start going South for him.
If Chesterfield want to blow their budget on one player then fine. IF we offered him what we thought he was worth whilst trying to build a quality balanced squad, and he didn’t agree then so be it.

Yes. Ellis leaves Tranmere and goes to Barrow. On his door step compared to Nottingham. Reeves wanted to play in the EFL, we are not in the EFL. Miller has chosen Chesterfield and we have no idea whether we tried, and if we did how hard.
Ironically at some point all those players have been criticised on here so why are we getting our knickers in a twist and fabricating BS rumours as to why.

I’d still be surprised if we wanted Ellis at all tbh.

IF the fact he was dropped for not performing affected his decision then do we want that sort of player? Compare that to how Rodrigues responded and decide which is the type of player you want around. It is an If of course.

Well speak for yourself, easy to remedy - untwist and don't fabricate

Rewind a week or so, would a majority of Notts fan have wanted...

    Ellis to sign? - definitely
Reeves to sign? - just about
Miller to sign? - without doubt

Yes, they've moved on. Nothing we can do. It's comment worthy though.
