Now that is very interesting. I was born and grew up on that road. I really enjoyed the area but hear that it is not too clever these days. I have not been back for 20 years.

Travel up there regularly as my daughter lives on there I live not far away born and bred in Harborne. A lot of the roads around there are in a bad state, they fill in a few pot holes and leave the worst.

Definitely the Abqaiq Highway ……Confident a trip along this road would cure anyone's constipation

Brave ex pats (tempting fate) used to wear “I survived the Abqaiq Highway T Shirts “

    Between 1971 and 1997

During this period 67000 people died in Saudi Arabia due to road accidents to put that into some sort of context West Bromwich's entire population is 78000 (approx)

Over 65% of accidents in K S A are due to vehicles travelling at excess speed and/or drivers disobeying traffic signals.

Of all the deaths in Saudi Ministry of Health hospitals, 81% are due to road traffic accidents

Everything with Arabs is “inshallah” or in English God willing

Which to the Saudi mind transcribes as

    • If there is a head on collision whereby several people are killed its nowt to do with them driving on the wrong side of the road @ 98 m p h it was Allah's will!

    Busy Roundabout in Makkah

Some of our Engineeers putting a plant in in Saudi told us about every day their driver would turn out of the site and drive about 1 mile up the wrong side of the motorway to get to the most convenient junction

Know Quinton and Harborne well. Went to Worlds End Lane and Lordswood Grammar Tech. Mom and dad moved to Halesowen about 1983 and used to get the 9 from town with no need to go on the 10. As I say, fond memories. I lived near Gorsy Road.

Driving through a Kidderminster yesterday and the lights went amber as I came through the other side.

Much to my surprise a car that was 100m at least behind me came through the same lights on red about 5-6 seconds later😩

This wasn’t even an “amber gamble”, it was utterly blatant and without any regard for anyone else.

There is a certain class of lowlife who live life to their own rules these days.
