I worked with Tony at the Post and Mail for years and yes you could get the Sunday Mercury in the summer at holiday resorts especially Weston Super Mare and Blackpool etc. My father was circulation manager for the Sunday Mercury and had to ensure the publication got to all the locations. A lot went by train to the coast etc.

I could always get the Mercury in Tenby and other holiday destinations.

The guy who owns Jazz newsagents in Tenby is an Albion fan which might’ve helped.

There was a Saturday evening green paper as well in the Midlands but I think this rival was part of the rival group to whichever brand owned the Sports Argus.

The Evening Mail owned the one paper and the Express and Star owned the other one as I recall?

Quite a feat to get all the results and league table and match reports done and into the shops within an hour and a half or just over.
