    An apology is no good.
This whole scapegoating of a mythical "woke brigade" (formerly "pc brigade" is just Daily Mail/ The Sun jargon mate. It's written down so many times these days that people just keep repeating it and believing in it without even thinking about it.

Mo Ross was sacked from Notts for making racist remarks towards one of our players. It was our players (and I believe in particular our captain Michael Doyle) who complained and got him sacked.

Do you really think Doyle and the lads you cheer on every Saturday are part of some "woke brigade" conspiracy?

I have nothing against Mo Ross btw. His apology seemed sincere and I hope he does well in his new job. But I don't think it was unfair for him to be sacked for saying racist things towards one of our players. It's completely unacceptable behaviour.

    Agreed.
    His sacking was deserved.
Plus we actually started to gel the moment he left!

Mo Ross's misdemenour certainly seems to have worked in our favour, but to lose your livelihood over it is a step too far for me. If it was one of a string of racist comments then fair enough.
I do wonder if the same punishment would be handed out if the roles were reversed.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on as a manager.

That's what we don't know. This is pure guesswork on my part, but given the nature of the punishment my money would be on it being the straw that broke the camel's back rather than an isolated incident.

As I pointed out, the players now have to set examples and not give abuse to linesmen or referees it works both ways not only when the agenda suits, looking at some of the petulant yellow cards we have received so far, it seems respect is not being reciprocated.

I agree I was just surprised with the stigma that is attached to racism in the UK nowadays ( it is not the same here) that anyone gave him a go. I wish him all the best.

Maurice Ross insists his acrimonious departure from Notts County after a "racially insensitive" comment would never have stopped him from getting back into management, after his appointment at Cowdenbeath.

The ex-Rangers defender apologised and left the English National League side, where he was assistant manager, after County player Enzio Boldewijn complained about a remark during a match in May this year.

At the time, the 40-year-old described it as a “clumsy, throwaway comment” after making an analogy over the player "moving like a 40-year-old" and asking "does he have a doctored African passport?"

He insisted he was simply making reference to the player, who is usually quick, not looking as mobile on the day, and said he was sorry he had inadvertently made the Dutch winger feel bad.

Six months later, Ross is back in management with the League Two side and he says that's because one isolated incident shouldn't scare off owners who know his real character.

"At the end of the day, people employ you based on what they think of you and what they know of you", he said, speaking exclusively to Football Scotland after being announced as boss of the Blue Brazil.

"I don't think people take too much to do with conjecture, so the person that employs me is going to see me for what I am as a person, what I've done in the past, my habits, what I'm like as a person, how I've been at other clubs I've managed etc.

"So I would hope that it wouldn't have too much of a bearing on it, because it's isolated, it's not something that's been habitual or it's been determined that this is how I am, this is my ideology, its not that at all.

"I've been caught up in this new world that is a very sensitive world. And a world that's moving faster than my education has with the language and what's acceptable and what isn't.

"I've been on courses etc to educate myself, so I'm better prepared now than I was maybe a year ago to understand the language that's accepted."

    This, this, this.

He has apologised and we move on, but the 'woke' crap is unacceptable, as was the racist comments he made. No ill will to the guy and best wishes in his new club, but let's not fall into the trap of it must be someone elses fault. It was a serious and sackable offence imo.
