I can take a defeat but there are ways to lose.

County was calamatous but it can happen but hibs away 1st half was so tepid and timid and it was a winnable game.

We can't seem to maintain an acceptable standard of performance for any length of time and continually scraping around for big results to get us out the ****.

I don't like to use the dabs as an example but I don't think they have played that much better than us this season but a bit better level of consistency and they have been rewarded with a good points total.

They have a rookie, we have someone in his 3rd year....Mwell are another club who seem capable of getting consistent results and st j have been very reliable for a decade or so.

I don't think getting a consistent level of performance out of our club is impossible with the right man in charge.

Mcpake is about to do a mini overhaul on the squad again, something he said he wouldn't do again.
    But we’re still 10th

Not having a go......but this is exactly what I mean........still 10th 😶 why not try for a bit more.

Not really good at expressing this but it's a bit more than league placing, it's the hidings, the cup cave ins, the terrible enviroment we play in, the insipid performances.....granted not all mcpakes fault .......the but thing kinda annoys me though.

But I know what you are saying not being relegated would be deemed acceptable......but we never seem to be striving short or long term for anything other than the dizzy heights of barely acceptable.

    Anyway bedtime.

For me, in career and personal life, good enough has never been good enough and never will be - I always strive for more and better.

It's a philosophy that's stood me in fairly good stead so why should I not expect the same from the football club that I've supported all my life? Why should I strive for more from life but accept mediocrity as good enough in that one aspect of life?

This whole thing does my head in and I genuinely can't understand people accepting that we're 10th in the league now so they're happy. Yes before the season started we all said we'd take 10th but that was as a minimum, can any of those saying they're happy that we're 10th right now really see us finishing there? No, we're looking at bottom by Christmas because the 'good enough' 10th place just isn't good enough in reality. That is not good enough.

I want better and as RRoS says it's not only about league position it's better performances, better commitment from board and management and players that want what I want - more.

If that makes me unusual then fair enough but in my world it just means I want more fans like me and RRoS and fewer fans, like BP33 above, willing to accept the mediocrity we're consistently served up.

would like to defend BP33. All he said was the fact that we are 10th. He gave no indication of whether he thought it was acceptable and I think you have spoilt what was a very good post. just remove the last bit!

Deeranged summed up what I was trying to say.

The comment about BP33 isn't a personal attack (it's not like he's trying to limit his freedom or way of life now is it 😎 ) but I think thats how our support in general seem to think mediocrity is a roaring success and aspirations are not that high.

It's difficult to gauge what exactly BP meant from his post but I'd never chase anyone away from Dens......except most respected.

One of my hero's Warren buffet said surround yourself with the best people you can afford.....that's how I think of a football boards responsibility to the fans when choosing a manager.

Ross or McInnes would be a huge upgrade on Mcpake.

I thought it was a pop at BP33. Over reaction on my part possibly.

Was only using BP33's comment as an example of what seems endemic in our support - we're mediocre and we accept it.

    Apologies if that wasn't clear.

Don't think it was an overreaction on your part at all, I just wasn't picking up the same vibe off Deerangeds post.

I don't......dare to dream......if more did it might just push the club onto better.

Some don't get upset by mundane mediocrity, I can get upset over a hose lying about for years......different strokes.

Let the hose go, you'll feel better for I promise

But then of course the hose was indicative of the mediocrity surrounding the club, no standards.
