School hours are the same, so teaching anything new has to mean something else is sacrificed

google it to get the full picture, it's quite chilling and very Orwellian
Not heard of this before so took your advice and googled it.

This seems to sum it up :

"In a trauma-informed school, the adults in the school community are prepared to recognize and respond to those who have been impacted by traumatic stress. Those adults include administrators, teachers, staff, and parents."

We've had a few recent posts complaining quite heatedly that children are slipping through the net with adults missing clear child abuse
From the research you asked me to undertake the whole point of TIS is to systemise training to spot the signs of trauma in children such as abuse.

Where did you get the idea that this meant that kids don't get told off if they do something wrong?? Can you link to it although I shudder to think what polemical Facebook group you've got this from!

Where does this happen? I have a 9 year old going through the schools system and they've never done anything other than some mental health awareness visits? Are these posts implying that that being made aware that mental illness exists and promoting healthy attitudes to mental health sufferers actually causes mental health issues? If so, what evidence is there for that?

I do however have some time for the op premise that kids tend to be too isolated in front of screens now and really try and resist that in our house. I remember as a child being allowed to go into Ravo woods from 9am to 7pm where I developed a rather unfortunate tenancy to start fires! Other than than, good character building stuff. Wish I had nearby woods in London I could boot our nipper into for the day...

If those instructions have been received they have nothing to do with the intentions of trauma Informed Schools, unless you can find anything to back up your observation that we would find this concept 'Orwellian' if we researched it? Admittedly I only searched few headline sites but the intention seems quite clear. Your missus might work on a school where the head is bundling in the 'no punishment' philosophy under the TIS banner but seems they'd be just as misled as yourself.

My wife has a friend by the way who have brought their 3 kids up with the no punishment philosophy and when we met them they are really nice kids. Just as nice as our child and we batter her.

My post earlier wasn’t suggesting parents should batter there kids. I was just pointing out parent use technology of a way of getting kids to behave.
My mum now and again if I misbehaved would give me a whack. I’ve never laid a finger on my boys but the parenting in a lot of situations seems to be behave and you can have your I pod x box etc.
well my boys behaved because they had manners and respect just simple basic manners and respect for what I said.

If you were in a school and saw one kid physically holding down another kid and battering him ( or her), what would you do?

I don't think it's just kids mental health being impacted. You only have to look on here and other 'anti-social media' to see the extreme change in behaviours from children all the way up to 'adults who should know better'. Took the advantage of a nice day here on Friday (contrary to your experiences) and apart from the aches and pains that come at our age, felt much better for taking most of the day away from the screens and in the garden.
