Reading having a new manager had me wondering.
But after looking at their next 6 fixtures, naaaaaaaaaaaw. they are there for the taking.

Just had a look at the remaining games this season.

I expect Reading to get between 12 and 15 points.
Peterborugh between 7 and 10.
Barnsley between 7 and 10.

That means Barnsley end up 24th on 30 points max. Posh 23rd on 31 max. Reading somewhere between 41 and 44. Hull, with only 12 games left, are currently on 34 and, looking at their remaining fixtures, they might end up below Reading.

Where does that leave us?
7 home games.
Millwall Barnsley Coventry PNE Cardiff wins
Bristol draw
Fulham loss

7 away games.
Luton Blackpool win
Cardiff Swansea draw
Bournemouth Blackburn QPR lose

Calculating in that I might not have all my predictions correct, somewhere between 20 and 24 points which will see us somewhere between 41 and 45 points.

Like last season, the relegation battle will be decided on the last day IMO.

and we have the "extra point" of goal difference unless something truly dreadful happens in those losses

the EFL really needs to sit up and take notice, they may well need to find another reason to dock us a further 6 to ensure their objective is fulfilled

A disappointing result and performance, I’ll single out Bielek who had a poor game, sloppy passing and a failure to ‘step up’, but no one looked especially inspiring apart from the early minutes of the second half

Well I admire your optimism, but for me we had to win against Millwall tonight, with Reading having won, we lost and thats it for me, any slim chance has gone.

With an 8 pt gap between us and them I can see no way in which we will overhaul them. We need to win 3 with them losing 3. Its not going to happen, injuries, suspensions will all add up and your predicting too many wins, when based on past performances they will either be draws or losses.

Our relegation will be confirmed with at least 3 games left to play, a game effort by the team, but the failure to be able to add to the squad in January has been the factor, that and some stupid red cards of which Lawrence was the latest.

So its prepare for league 1 next season.

Their first. If it was a free kick then it should have been for us, IMO. The 2nd was down to our inability to clear our lines following a good run from Bennett.

We then enjoyed the best of the possession (66%) but they held their ground with well organised defending which we never looked like breaching. 14 shots to their 8, 3 on target to their 4. Despite that, they still looked the more likely to score. Basically, we huffed and puffed but failed to blow their defensive house down.

No complaints about the effort but we were certainly short on guile.

I fear Swale is correct above. Almost certainly if the gap widens again on Saturday, and I doubt we’ll get anything from in form Luton, then the game will be up.

The first half last night was dreadful and in truth we might have gone in 0-4 down.

Very unfair to single Bielik out. Yes he had a disappointing game but the guy has come back from very serious long term injury and made (I think) six appearances in a very short space of time. Last night was just a game too far.
Of the others, Plange was ineffective, Sibley looked lost, Ebosele appeared injured having run down too many blind alleys and Max Bird had a nightmare.

Tbf...the second half was better. They did ‘fight to the end’ but it was too little too late. On the plus side...Bird sorted himself our, CKR gave their defence something to worry about, Cashin continued where he had left off on Saturday and, above all, Curtis Davies ran his blood to water seemingly expected to provide a supply of crosses from the right while also marshalling the defence against Millwall’s rapid counter attacks.

As regards the officials...the less said the better. The referee was poor imo and the linesman in front of the Toyota stand would have been out of his depth on Alvaston Park...but that’s not why we lost and I fear that last night was evidence that the self inflicted loss of Lawrence is going to cost us dear.

It's not over yet, you only have to look at our position last year to see how easily a team can capitulate. Reading have some good players but they are very fragile in terms of confidence, a defeat for them this weekend could put them right back into it. Equally, Hull aren't exactly pulling away.
We've got 13 games left, we're on 21 points (so we've earned 42 which would put us 15th I believe), by hook or crook, and I know its a tall order, but if we can double that figure then our survival will go down to the last game. It will take an improvement on our form to date, but it's achievable, and that's not something I thought I'd be saying when we started the season. One good run could just do it.

You’re right...it’s not over yet and I admire your optimism...but after the joy of well deserved victory over Peterborough it’s certainly got a lot harder.
There’s usually one club that falls into the mire from apparent safety at this stage of the season so let’s hope you’re also right about Hull.

The loss of experienced key players was always going to come back and bite us and Lawrence stupidity has just turned the screw!
Can we pick ourselves up and rally for the final third of the season? Time will tell but I think it's just become too steep an hill to climb! Let's hope not!
