at the moment the wingbacks are getting overwhelmed having to track back and defend, Ogbene isn't a full back and fergie isnt fit enought to do both, so we get caught out on the counter.
Lets go 4 at the back, then either 4-4-2, or 4-3-3 / 4-5-1, this way we have cover if the full backs get up to support the attack

harding, reg, ihekwe, fergie at back
then depends if you want ladapo to start or not, yes then go 442 but most likely not so means playing barlaser, wiles, lindsay / rathbone in the middle 3, then miller and ogbene either side of smith

Option to use Ogbene in Wiles place, drop Wiles back rest Rathbone and play Tutu wide right
It's strange how perceptions can differ. I watched the Wembley game live on ESPN and then saw in the post match thread, probably from millertop, that Mattock should never play another game. As a consequence, when I watched the full replay of the game I paid particular attention to him as first time around I hadn't noticed him having 'a stinker'. Even under that scrutiny he didn't stand out to me as being head and shoulders 'bad' above the rest of a poorly performing team. Yes he was out of position a couple of times but that's probably more to us playing a left back in a left centre half position. He can certainly pass the ball better than any of our other centre halves that started that game. I'd say there's a tendency developed for some to use him as scapegoat for all our problems, independent of whether he's at fault or not.

PS I agree that we should move on from him with regards a new contract.

When you watch Mattock at LB in a back four he plays too narrow and is caught out of position a lot, so you'd think he'd be naturally better at LCB in a back three, but then he is still caught out of position, but just in a different part of the pitch!

CAM Saturday Charlton's goal we let them have freedom of their left side going forward I was there just watched it again showed Chioe he's not a defender. I'm not knocking him he's a winger. Mattock can do a job like I said Wood following game back in then keep it like that there's only 6 games to go. Right to left Edmunds Green Ihiekwe Mattock/Wood Harding. Tu tu looked dangerous when he got on Saturday so start him tomorrow night. I'm not that impressed with either of our wide left players I'd have Chioe playing there. Got to have 3 in midfield.

There is no way I am using Mattock has a scrapegoat in our latest bad form, I might be stupid at times but ffs why would I blame him when he’s hardly played?

Yes I do moan when he’s in side in defence because imo he’s just not good enough, can be good going forward but he just can’t get back and it causes problems especially when a striker has to bloody cover for him. I’ve said it a few times and if he gets another contract then whoever thinks it’s a good idea at the club are in cloud cuckoo land
