John Wayne is too mouthy and swaggering.
Clint's okay but he's Clint.
Henry Fonda is one of the best, but for me it's Randolph Scott. Laid back, confident and decisive. A touch of style.
James Stewart comes a close second and he would be my favourite if it wasn't for his voice. Drives me nuts after about half an hour.
