Well he might be better than Vincent and O'Brien who also need replacing. The whole area was analysed to death last season and was deemed to be an issue and still has not been resolved.

Frank Vincent getting Shots is better than being left for dead in a car boot I suppose
But watch out, Frank is a made-man for most Notts fans (you know...he's shown he can actually do something)

How do you solve a problem like central midfield.

I always think it's the most difficult area of the pitch to get right and be truly effective and we haven't solved it for a long long time

    Fckin rubbish.
Yeah but JOB scores hat tricks, well one.

He does give the ball away too much like JOB and we had/have better in his role or similar. Love his energy and mobility. Could be argued JOB has more end product.

Neither of them are the answer. Vincent benefited in some supporters eyes by not playing.

The only way loaning out Frank Vincent makes any sense is if we're using the saving on his wages, and other spare money in the budget, to bring in a couple of other midfielders to put some real steel in there. Otherwise, we've just further weakened what is already our weakest area of the squad. Palmer is reliable, but Ed Francis is inconsistent and Jim O'Brien - while he'll always give you everything - is well into the veteran stage of his career.

I don't really understand the reluctance to play Frank Vincent. I think he gives energy to the team when he plays, a bit like Alan Judge used to do. He's not the kind of player to fill the obvious void we have for a really solid defensive ball-winner who'll help us grind out results away from home, but he's an enthusiastic livewire with the ability to get forward and pose an attacking threat. I can only hope that incoming transfer moves in the next week or so will reveal why we've apparently used him to make space in the squad/budget.

It is hard not to like Frank Vincent, but it is only a month loan, where LW will be able to see him in game action at our level, which will enable him to gauge whether he has a future with us.

FV has looked very good in two or three games, but generally disappointed. I feel in Austin we have a similar player, but with more scoring in him.

Hopefully Vincent will unlock the consistency needed at this level, by playing games regularly.

Really disappointed seeing Vincent go. Like Tom Crawford before him, we're wasting an energetic ball playing midfielder because he doesn't do enough sideways passes.
We've now left ourselves with only one reliable central midfielder in Palmer, JOB who is now an hour man and the consistently unimpressive Francis who now has no competition, bet he can't believe his luck.
We must surely be bringing someone in this week to bolster midfield.

Good move imo. Just one month, far from showing Francis that he has no competition, it gives LW a chance to see how FV does in competitive play and therefore puts pressure on Francis.

Personally I've never really thought Vincent is that good - inconsistent for me - but it's all about personal opinions.

LW has to go with what he thinks and will stand or fall by his own decisions.
