I have to agree Leics buddy, disappointing as I consider we both are always looking for the positives and clearly have been supporting the team for at least half a century!
Herewith my take on the match (copied / pasted from another thread)…
We were outrun by an energetic Bristol side, who defended their lead well. I didn’t go to the Reading success, so unable to make comparisons, but, from all the reports of that match, we were a totally different side.
I felt we lacked the energy (very evident by Bristol) maybe reflecting our older players not being able to step up to the demands of the Championship.
Pleased to see Beale made early substitutions as Livermore and Philips were poor. We sit in the East towards the Smethwick, so couldn’t really get a good look at Cleary. He did seem to get involved ?
Another very disappointing performance, wherein we really didn’t threaten and the crosses from both wings (sadly dire from Townsend) were easily defended by Bristol.
Defensively we were off the pace and looked shaky, and gave the ball away too often in midfield.
Overall not a good evening’s entertainment, but onwards and upwards, but looking forward to the next home game following our away success at Millwall !!

2 cast iron penalties turned down that VAR would have awarded and a header off the list that tricked along the goal line, not that it makes up for the performance it was dire, nor do I want VAR but like most games this season a bit of luck would have changed things.
It’s good to have opinions isn’t it. I don’t agree with us having a poor team. I don’t agree that Bristol city are a poor side. My opinion. Disagree by all means. I couldn’t give a stuff. Either it’s good to have opinions or only certain opinions on here count. I don’t subscribe to the latter.
I agree differing opinions are good for every topic. Bristol City are not poor but bang average and if you compare them to us - probably better! We certainly are not a top six side and the issue is the selection of poor players time and time again. Phillips is consistently poor which is backed up by the stats and almost the opinion of the majority who attend matches. Townsend is poor and can’t cross the ball for toffee. Livermore is too slow and way past his best. Still there is no goal threat as Asante runs a lot but has no physical presence. Cleary looked good when he came on but we probably won’t see him again. TGH played well but clearly Bruce didn’t rate him. Let’s hope Dike provides us e we what’s been missing since Gayle left.
I don’t think anyone would dispute we are a shadow of the squad when the Vile pipped us to promotion. We had four or five Premier quality players. Now we don’t have one who could play for a Premier team!
Fans are voting with their feet and honestly doubt whether there was 15,000 there last night!
I don’t think anyone could dispute last night we were very poor and devoid of any quality!
I am resigned to the fact we will be in a relegation battle. The table does not lie!
We are certainly in a relegation battle now as Boro are winning tonight which puts us in the bottom three!
I think that we are all now fully aware that we are in serious danger of being relegated. When fans were making these comments earlier in the season, I just laughed it off. I'm not laughing now! We are a side completely lacking in confidence, desire and ability. I can't see us getting anything from Saturday's game v. Millwall. By 5 pm on Saturday we could be in an even worse position.
I've always been optimistic regarding Albion and if someone had told me that we would be in this position when the season started I would have said that they should be sectioned. Doesn't that idiot in China realise that us dropping into the third tier would mean the value of the club would drop even further. He has to be the worst thing that has happened in the 145 year history of this club.
We are not getting the best out of this team for whatever reason. We have a good squad playing badly. Unfortunately until someone comes in who can get the best out of it we would be better off with a poor squad playing well. The players are there. The mentality isn't. (I've been saying that for decades now) Mentality is key. Most weeks we have a couple of players with the right mentality. TGH, Wallace one week, then someone else another. We need A TEAM all firing at once. We have the players but mentally they are shot. Too many changes, too many ups and downs. No stability for players to actually grow into a role.
