    Brunt - good then
    Jay Rod - great player
Murphy - still a Premier player
Gibbs - was a decent Premier player
    Hegazi - a great defender

None of our players are better than they were! Some of these players were excellent and God knows why Moore couldn’t get this side promoted!!!

None of our players are Premier material now - not one apart from maybe Okay!

I know you didn’t rate Dawson but he was a superb defender. Great for West Ham and one of Wolves best players even now.

I shake my head at the rubbish now compared to that side. We don’t even have a goal scorer now and Gayle and Jay Rod were banging them in for fun!
Sorry but the word “great” doesn’t fit ANY of the players in that squad and it gets used too often these days.

None of them was anything more than an average at best Premier league player.

The last great player we had was Bryan Robson.

OK - great was used in comparison to the side now. So which average at best Premier league player do we have in our present side?

Not one and that’s my point!

As of fairly recent I’d label the following as ”great”:

    Ben Foster
    Romelu Lukaku
    Peter Odemwingie
    Youssuf Mulumbu

Phillips and Gera weren't too shabby.

These were very good players, in terms of technical ability and quality Zolton Gera is our best player of the past 40 years in my opinion.

The only player who would definitely improve the best Albion side of my era from 1972 up until now would be Ben Foster to replace Osbourne/Godden but I never saw Ozzy at his best so I’ll defer to others on that one.

    Foster
    Batson
    Statham
    Wile
    Robertson

    Robson
    Tony Brown
    Cunningham
    Johnston

    Ally Brown
    Regis

    Subs

    Cantello
    G Mac
    Gera
    Mulumbu
    Odemwingie
    Kevin Phillips
    Brunt
    Morrison

I was expecting a complaint about no Jonas Olsson 😏🤣

He should’ve been n my bench alongside G Mac.

It should be said that there are so many players from pre 1972 who I never saw who in the eyes of our very old and our long dead fans who would replace any of the players mentioned.

Bryan Robson was a great player. This is why the academy hasn't produced much for us over the years. Great players come by very rarely. A lot of the players Al mentions were not so great when we had them but improved in time, bit like Gnabre who was awful for us but developed later, that's why Arsenal were happy to loan him out. Its all about the timing with some players and if they were that good they wouldn't be playing for us. Those who are great quickly go somewhere else. It is what it is.
