We may have been linked with all those Rotherham associated players, but that's just lazy journalists looking for a story. If there was any evidence that DCFC were in negotiations with any of those players, you'd have a point. But I don't think there is.

You can't tar Warne with that brush as I'm not sure he has been involved in the way those rumours start - he just happened to work there. It's a bit like saying you are a kiddy fiddler just because you were a teacher....complete crap.

I'm pretty sure Rooney played as the right sided one of our 3 centre backs...

He can play RB in a back 4 as well and as DM. Versatile and a youngster with promise.

I’m not attempting to ‘tar’ anyone with any ‘brush’, GP and you know no better than me whether it’s ‘just lazy journalists looking for a story’.
It may or may not be, but I was just responding to AF’s initial suggestion that Rotherham/players that Warne has worked with before seem a popular source of interest as regards our potential new signings.
The Michael Smith link certainly wasn’t just a rumour and their manager’s response to our alleged interest was reported. As regards the rest, as I said, we’ll see.
Not sure about your last sentence. Seems more than a bit ridiculous to say the least. The suggestion about Warne is based on two completed signings and four other widely reported links, at least one of which is still ‘running’. Your suggestion about teachers is based on...well nothing at all beyond your own occasionally bizarre thought processes.

He can play RB, but Warne likes to play with WB's and he sure isn't a WB.

No new recruits from South of Luton or North of Blackpool suggests his/his head of recruitment’s contract doesn’t include a mileage allowance. The overall feeling I have is of lack of imagination although I accept that LR last year May have ‘struck lucky’ whilst employing a broadly similar approach

One thing I thought about, and it relates to a comment Wildsmith made when asked why he chose Derby - ‘why wouldn’t you - fantastic stadium, big crowds…’. That sort of answers things the other way - for lower league players on maybe £2k a week and a career full stop in mid 30s , you ‘wouldn’t’ if a club with a tin pot stadium and 5000 supporters was offering you £3000, i I would suggest. And of course, in all cases, we’ll never know.
Rooney isn't a WB by any stretch of the imagination and Warne currently plays with WB's, the 2 RWB which he brought in for that position are crocked, so we are back to where were last season, making do for possibly 10 weeks.

Except they have recruited 2 players from Rangers! one of whom might be on the fringes of the first team.

Whether the origin of the players brought in so far indicates anything other than these were the ones available for the positions he wanted to fill, of a certain quality (even if for a couple that remains to be seen on the pitch) and which Derby could afford is I would say impossible to gauge.

His suggestion about teachers was I would suggest based on exactly the same principles as your comment about Warne and Rotherham, a vague casual link in that a good number of teachers have been convicted of illegal acts with the children in their care, and even more subject to more than likely ill informed rumour!

Generally I would have thought, that unless there is some confirmation from a club representative about a bid being turned down or a bid submitted or a purchase actually happening, then most rumours linking us with players is clearly just journo's filling their pages, website with click bait for credulous fans who somehow think its actual news. Its not hard to identify which is which.

Not sure at any stage Warne said anything about Smith, I'm not even certain Derby submitted any form of bid, the latest rumour about a player valued at £1.5 million Warne's sarcastic response was clear (at least to me, you my of course give it more credence!), we have been "linked" with as many players not connected to Rotherham as connected with it, so still really can't see where your concern about Rotherham is based.

Well I suppose if a tiny percentage (of teachers) equates to 25% of actual signings and rather more than that of press related links, then in your world you are talking the ‘same principles’...but it doesn’t...so we’re not.

Getting back to reality...all that’s been suggested is that our search for players is possibly a tad ‘parochial’. I mean...do we really need a chief scout to unearth the likes of Martin Waghorn and players PW knows from the past?
