To a point Bt I think your right - as I slotted in at c back occasionally and found it easier tbh than centre mid as whole game is in front of you and more time to pick passes etc or just get rid of the ball.

I do think though that in todays flexible speedy set ups positioning is an issue for a centre back for example at left or right back.

Also in a Sean Dyche side more emphasis and time was attributed to defending as we simply didn’t have the ball enough in games - Now VK expects us to have the ball for large parts of the games - so imo anyway there is more asked of players out of position.

I would have to say Bt I wouldn’t like to
Have played full back when I was a central
Player - not saying I wouldn’t have done it of course.

I reckon we're over-thinking this somewhat. We still have Charlie Taylor, plus several other options, there are plenty of examples currently of big defending lumps playing full-back, Dan Burn and Nathan Ake are two right off the top of my head, Walker seems to switch effortlessly between full back and CB for both City and England, besides which Maatsen can't defend, he couldn't tackle his way out of a soggy paper bag. I'd rather we'd signed him, but I doubt he's going to be a big miss, we'll be reyt.

Being honest Sinkov for me it wasn’t that we didn’t get him it was more that it’s was that or nothing.
I’m glad Taylor stayed tbh - hope he plays him as I think physically we need that but also his prem experience- aside from Robert’s he’s the only one that has the knowledge of the league.

I've mentioned it before army, City played four CBs at times last season, if Pep thinks his teams can cope without a recognised left-back, then I doubt Vinni will lose any sleep over it. Like you I hope he plays Charlie, he's a sound defender and that's what we need, we won't have as much of the ball at this level, there will be plenty of defending to be done.

It is certainly a strange one. Chelsea have Ben Chilwell signed for 50 million as undoubtedly their first choice left back with Cucurella at 55 million plus and Maatsen as back ups. I do not know what Pochettino has said to Maatsen about his Chelsea prospects but the player was obviously reluctant to sign for Burnley permanently. The deal has not been done and it will be interesting who VK selects at left back for Spurs today and our upcoming fixtures.
