I thought the same.

This is symptomatic of a lot of today’s problems, everything is all about celebrity and show, it comes ahead of common sense and ahead of doing the right thing.

So some “has been” sleazy rapper gets to carry the torch ahead of someone from LA who sweated their nuts of to perfect their sport and made an immense physical and mental effort over a long period of their life.

There has been a good documentary on Discovery recently following various Olympic athletes.

Following their journey to this Olympics, seeing the hours of huge physical effort, often in the depths of winter and often in solitary conditions due to their nation not being a hotbed for Olympians.

The Norwegian 400m hurdles runner Karsten Warholm being a prime example, watching him train his guts out with just his coach is a virtually deserted training centre in mid winter in Norway was inspiring.

But let’s choose a rapper or Greta Thunberg to carry the torch if Scandinavia ever gets the Olympics!

Have not had time to read what has been going on with regard to the Olympics or anything else but some of my humble opinions are a) the opening ceremony is complete bo11ocks (much to the chagrin of my daughter) b) I cherry pick what I watch c) I must miss out on a lot as there are a lot of events not worthy of inclusion. Notwithstanding this, it seems things are not looking rosy for the Baggies but perhaps I am missing something.
