    Olympic Games.

It has ceased to be a sporting event but more of an occasion full of ‘razzmatazz’ and spectacle. Why all the fuss about Lady Gaga and Celine Dion being in attendance. What have they got to do with sport?

The financial cost of holding it in the city of Paris, especially the security, and not in a purpose built stadium, must be astronomical, especially the opening ceremony. The inconvenience to the local population must be driving them mad. Some of the events, to my mind, are ridiculous; break dancing for goodness sake!

The whole reason for the Olympic Games is to witness sporting achievement not all this glitz and glamour. From a personal point of view I enjoy the various athletic events, especially on the track. However, I do appreciate other sports but certainly not break dancing.

I see the lunatics have wrecked some of the French rail network overnight throwing travel plans into chaos.

The one thing the French are masters at is when it comes to revolting.

The event could turn into a sh it show.

I agree about events such as break dancing, what a joke.

No doubt darts and snooker will enter the fray at some point.

It’s a pity they don’t have an on-line rant event!

Could well be a Russian attack. I don’t think that a genius is required to predict disruptions to such a large event as the Olympics, especially now that it is more of a political statement than a sporting occasion.

To add to my previous post, why is American rapper Snoop Dog carrying the Olympic torch? In my ignorance, am I missing something?’

I used to love the games especially athletics and was glued to the TV throughout.
These days ill just watch the odd highlight or so.
Far too many fringe sports that dilute the real spirit of Olympians.
When will farting be included i wonder.

Track and field events. That’s the Olympics. Always angered me that football which gets an abundance of coverage is in it now. Tennis? Why? And the inclusion of anything anybody wants means it’s not the Olympics anymore. Criminal. I’m not a lover of the Olympics but I do think it’s being barged over by other sports who have enough coverage in their own right.

The Caribbean countries would mop up in this event as they are The Windies!

Apparently it's because he is a native of Los Angeles and LA is due to host the Olympics in 2028.
