Thanks for that SB.
Do I watch or have some White Rat in Darton or Dodeth Tap?
Dilemma 🤷*♂️
Pathetic really isn't it, that we're almost at kick off time again, for the opening game of a new season.
And our squad is incomplete in certain areas, yet again!!.
This lot keep doing it to us, and hope we can still hit the ground running, and still stay competitive, in the Play off chase. 😠
Last knockings for players as usual so we don't pay top whack and end up with players who had nowhere else to go.
Didn't they say we would "get our business done early"? Then again they say that every year to boost season ticket sales.
When it goes t1ts up they will blame Clarke and sack him, they are a complete joke!
We are stuck with them though (and they know that!) unfortunately. I doubt if there's anybody else waiting to take over, and show some real ambition.
I'm delighted that Hourihane and Roberts have been brought back, and that they've dropped that ludicrous rule of not signing anybody over 23.
But as for the keeper and striker situation, I'm just stunned that its happening again.
Clarke strikes me as being positive, similar to Duff, and as the coach/manager he deserves better than this.
It's obviously far from ideal not having a full squad in place going into the new season. Excuses after excuses from the board as to why we haven't signed players. Not good enough and to be honest, it's embarrassing.
I'll be interested tonight watching our team set up and how we go about it in terms of playing style.
Best of luck to Clarke and the players.
The club's trend over recent times is to bring in keepers on loan and that is likely to happen again.
We failed to get Clarke's No 1 keeper target, Luke Southwood, a 26 year old with the necessary experience and who Clarke knew and trusted from his Cheltenham days. He signed for Bolton instead.
"We know who we want".
I hope the club do not fanny abart too much and lose another one of Clarke's top targets, Davis Keillor-Dunn from Mansfield, to push up from his present attacking midfield to be a striker or as a straight replacement for Phillips if he goes this window.
Clarke would be a little miffed if another of his top targets failed to materialise.
"We know who we want".
Seen a story that it's a £12m keeper from Chelsea (on loan 😉.
Alan Nixon reports that we are linked with 2 keepers, one from Chelsea and one from Man Utd.
Both 20 years old without 1st team appearances at their parent club.
One went to Accrington on loan and played 18 times in their 1st team.
Weve been linked with plenty of players this summer and very few have been converted into signings. Maybe this is another red herring story.
