Managing to sign Mikey was a great move and I'm sure we all hope that he can replicate those early performances for us from last season but if Grant continues to demonstrate the desire and work rate he has done so far, then he will continue to feature and I hope he is rewarded by more goals. As per the other thread, it's great to now have a more natural goal scorer in Maja but we've demonstrated that plenty of others can contribute in that department.

Oh, and I'm sure we all agree with you about that particularly worrying aspect of Palmer's game Al! I'm sure Carlos has already had a word though 😁
Palmer playing the straight pass direct to the edge of his own D has to stop, if he hasn’t got a full back available to pass to the rule needs to become that he either aims for the wide forwards or he goes long down the middle.

The pass he played centrally to our centre back already under pressure from two players closing him down was as stupid a pass as I’ve seen in ages.

Agree - it’s only a matter of time before an opposing striker nips in gets an easy goal due to Palmer f ucking about with the ball.

He’s a great keeper but not doing himself any favours as opposing players will now target him! Carlos needs to stop this before it costs us!

Rode our luck at times and against a more potent strike force and it could have ended 3-3. Palmer hopefully will have learned as will the defense...get the ball long and out wide if in doubt.

To be fair we haven't tried to play that way this season we have tended to go a bit longer, Portsmouth were going man for man at the back so i presume the tactic's were to draw them on then hit the spaces they left but their press was causing us problems we controlled the 2nd half a lot better, Palmer does seem to struggle with decision making when he is put under pressure.

Palmer just needs to be careful but that said he’s a brilliant keeper and our best no 1 for many years. Much better than Johnstone!

I'm pretty certain he is being instructed to do this by Carlos

Agreed. Nowadays it is ”the way” it should be done, even if you don’t have the players with sufficient technical abilities to pull it through. If you don’t do it your’re considered archaic, I believe.
