If we play a 1st half against them like we did today we could really be in trouble.
2nd half much better but how many times do we pass up or mess up the chance to put the ball in the box.
The 2 best crosses of the game and we score from them.
    Simple game isn't it?
    After Newcastle 🤪

Second half - more aggression, more in the tackle, on comes Bramall and they couldn't deal with his pace. Powell's crossing was 3.0 -5.0 at best first half then, he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and drills a beauty into the path of Nombe, MOTM and rightly so. Suddenly we look like a team who wanted more and it took all of 7 minutes before Hakeem rose to plant one in....at last! Subs galore made but we made it look hard against 10 men with 22+ extra time to go.

Anyway, we got it over the line, we scored 2 yes 2 goals, bar the goal difference we're now 3 points of the last play off spot. How daft does that sound from 3 games ago. I'm sure others will add plenty more to this thread so over to them. Me, I'm a happy Miller tonight.

NB. What a little powerhouse Holmes is. Show him open grass and he's off with direct play straight at the opposition net. Could have maybe had a goal or two had he shot earlier. Such a breath of fresh air this lad brings to the side, a no fear factor built into him.Play him more!

Holmes agree on the right for Wilkes in a front 3. Think Evans bottles it to dropping players like Wilkes JCH.

This match will be remembered for the day that Sam Nombe finally showed that he is a footballer

His movement was so good today. Bit of inexperience drifting offside a couple of times but he will get better at that.

Sam Nombe I am now a believer.

The better of 2 absolutely piss poor teams. A win is a win but far from convinced by any methodology

A great result and 7 points from 9 is great, so lets take that and now the next couple of league games will tell us even more about the team.
Nombe is the only forward we have that puts in a shift and he deserved MOTM and his goal, I hope this run continues. McCart and Humphries are very solid, the full-backs are good too. I agree with the post about Tiehi and Odoffin in CM, not working, they leave too many gaps, we need Kelly back to control the midfield and free Powell up to open up play. The first half was two very poor teams and Rotherham Church moves more than JCH.
Said it in previous weeks Wilks plays for Wilks not for the team, you can see he is a talented lad but you also see why he has had issues in his career at other clubs. The first 20 minutes of the second half was excellent, even JCH chased down a ball, he then needed oxygen but he actually ran. Our second goal wouldn't have stood away from home, but we deserve a few decisions going our way. The sending off changed the game again, they did a double sub and really pushed and were very unlucky not to get a draw, I thought we panicked, gave the ball away too much and how many break aways did we fail to even get a shot on target from. We don't look confident and I hope we see some improvement in terms of ball possession, set pieces and being able to perform for 90 mins not 20-30. I won't comment on Hugill today, because Brin tells me off. I thought Holmes was very good when he came on, he looked bright and lively and a breath of fresh air, that is good news for us, give him 90 minutes in mid-week. We still aren't playing well but we have picked up points and that will help the confidence, very pleased with how we started the second half it shows there is something there.

North West Corner Teihi is a bit of a mystery to me he does the “mucky”job and goes under the radar a bit thing is he and Haks are very similar who funnily enough thought was poor today other than his goal!
Defensively sound today Powell is class but again the set pieces need work
Even though he sent one of theirs off(don’t know why cos he pushed one of ours over? was in west stand so hard to see) thought Ref was shocking and Lino on family stand side seemed happy sticking flag up for offside or not
So 10 games in and we are very average positives are can’t get worse (hopefully)
There’s a team in there somewhere hopefully SE will put a bit more faith in likes of Holmes (who did well when he came on looked like he was in middle of park) and Hungbo we do miss Kelly even though he’s old eh Gru Raggett too although McCart has done nowt wrong
Their player with the unpronounceable name was already on a yellow card so running across to get involved in a bit of a scuffle that was nothing to do with him and pushing one of our players over was unbelievably stupid and he couldn't argue with getting the second yellow.
The reaction of their manager said it all.

I sit in the East Stand and can tell you that the lineswoman (if that's the correct expression) only got one offside decision wrong and that was very close.
Players can see along the cut lines of the grass but still manage to drift into offside positions.

    Witnessed a first today.

A substitute player booked before he had even entered the field of play.
Not sure whether he even got on the pitch for any of the match

    Pathetic
