If the second goal had been scored in any of their other 48 games, it would have stood, simple as that.
Goodness me Shad, that's an all new can of worms isn't it lol.
Yeah your probably right, but I seriously cant stand the SheffUre Blunts anyway,
We were conned at Wembley because of poor incompetent officials, including Var.
And I'm afraid it will always keep on happening, in the Efl. 😩

Taking off our rivalry glasses and looking at football through the EFL I strongly believe that what ever competition your club is taking part in the rules should be in place before it starts and should not be altered once under way , they have done it in the play offs and they have done it in the FA Cup and to me it is totally wrong , take that decision to disallow the Blades second goal , it has virtually cost one club ?200 million pounds and denied a set of fans the chance to watch top flight football , clearly the goal would have stood in the previous 48 games of the competition and incidentally no one will convince me that one player was interfering with the keepers vision when the penalty box was crammed with players from both sides , the strike came from outside the box with ump**** players between the keeper and the lad who struck the shot, the linesman and the ref both gave the goal , 35000 fans celebrate only for some official sat in an office to overturn everything , it was wrong and the Blades were robbed !!

Don't you think though, that the Blunts disallowed goal, was the 'right' decision.
I know rules and laws do keep changing over the years, and that is a bad thing of course.
But I think that old rule of "impeding the keeper", is more than relevant here.
Btw, the Blunts dominated the first half, and they've only got themselves to blame.

Last night I listened to an interview with Keith Hacket who incidentally is a Wednesday fan , I know him personally and I believe he is one of the best referees this country has ever produced and I totally respect his opinion , his conclusion was the goal should definitely have stood , you are right Acido that the Blades did dominate the first half but if the goal had stood then 2 nil would have been a fairer reflection of their dominance ,so in my opinion I disagree with you that they have only themselves to blame , Var cost them that goal and some outstanding saves prevented them from being further ahead , I know because of local rivalry others will look at this differently but my thoughts are based on my opinion about a football match not an opinion on a football club.

I agree the goal should have stood! It's part of the game to crowd the area, you will always have opposing players somewhere around the keeper trying to score! If the player is bumping into the keeper or intending to block his view fair enough, but just being there should not result in a goal being chalked off!
Keepers are protected far too much these days and players shouldn't be having to think "quick get away from the Keepers line of sight" as his teammate is about to shoot from 20 or 30 yards! Also refs need to be a lot stronger in sticking to their on field decisions! How many times have we seen players sent off for a slowed down tackle, when during normal play it was acceptable to make the tackle and maybe a yellow card should have been the outcome?
