Whilst this appointment sounds fantastic, if we didn't keep signing players with a history of injuries it might not have been necessary

Maybe that's just one of the reasons why he's on board...To make sure before players are signed pre-existing injuries are checked properly...

So you wouldn’t have signed JJ? The player signed with possibly the worst injury history on our books. The player injured by let’s say a robust challenge.
Maybe this appointment is an acknowledgment that as a club we don’t manage players and their pasts well enough?
Unfortunately, like many sports, injury is part n parcel of the game. Pointing the finger of blame IMO is futile… unless of course, you keep a player on the pitch when seriously injured.

Actually I read this statement slightly differently
Anyone can see what a player's injury history is - all this info is already collated
You don't need all the qualifications of this guy
We were often beaten this season by teams who had bigger or more aggressive guys than us
Some have said our data model didn't factor this in - now it appears we are going to do so
The brothers say the football dept is being restructured
Maybe this is the new boss of said football department
The announcement of Stuart Maynard's replacement will tell us more

I know I really should be championing this as someone who has been able to work in football data analysis and scouting for a few years now. But I just have a nagging feeling we're fluffing something up to keep the fan base happy when the announcement of the NEW COACHING TEAM is made. To me this sounds like team selection by committee driven by the data. I mean, it could really work, and I really hope it does, after all, 'fortune favours the brave'.

He will not have come cheap. His publications show that he is looking beyond what the physios/medical team can provide and likely will impinge not only on identifying desired players, and not simply by looking at their injury history, but on providing input into their training and conditioning. Of course this is dependent on it working though it seems as if he has had success elsewhere.

He might well be the sort of person Emma Raducanu needs - undoubtably skilled she seems to be made of glass.

I can?t see that happening, could be wrong but I think this is just about improving recruitment of players are going to be robust and then keeping players on the pitch. If you think about it this guy isn?t cheap but how much in wages did we pay out last season for downtime of players? Hopefully pays for itself.

Absolutely this where Dr Dave is concerned, it was more about the statement in the clubs article that mentioned new coaching team, not new head coach that got me thinking.

New coaching team = AI coming to a data centre near you. "Due to unforseen events (ie hacking) today's team contains 3 goalkeepers in mid-field, our target man in goal and the cleaning lady as sweeper"

I'm concerned our new AI coaching team may misinterpret its goal to "beat the opposition".
