I have been a fan of Griffiths since Palmer left but unfortunately I am now starting to doubt my judgement. I now believe that we should be looking for a new number one with Griffiths as the number two. We need to get rid of Wildsmith as he is just not up to the job. It will be interesting to see what transpires.

Williams looks ready but wont surpass Furlong yet.

Young players need opportunity and a space where they can make mistakes and learn from them. .

Griffiths is very young for a goalie as most mature a little later. If we truly believe in having an academy, they need chances and to be trusted. Griffiths is a fantastic goalkeeper in the making; I wouldnt be put off by a couple of mistakes last season under a crap manager.

Wildsmith is experienced and made absolute howlers. He just isnt good enough.

Thankfully this could and should be Furlongs last season, Williams needs a chance and it might come sooner than he thinks if Furlong?s petulance carries on, we ain?t going to win many games playing with 10 men

I said the same thing this morning. If Furlong gets sent off again through petulance which costs us - hope he does one! You only need to look on social media and there?s numerous comments about him being the weak line. Yeah he does have a good throw - wow!

He gets sent off every 60 games on average so dont hold your breath.

Furlong was given a contract extension near the beginning of last season after a great start under Carlos.
Hopefully he sorts himself out and puts in a good performance today.

We all know that Furlong is better going forward than he is in his defensive duties but if he can re-capture the form he had under Corberan then, for me, he has to start ahead of Williams, for the present at least.

It's great that Williams had a very promising cup game and I don't doubt he can beat Furlong for pace, but the Championship is very demanding and he lacks the needed experience to start. That said, I hope he gets the opportunities to play to build up that experience and can certainly see that happening, especially when we might need more defensive qualities in games.

Really pleasing to see another academy player begin to break through and wish him all the best but maybe need to see him walk a bit more before we have him running? Little doubt that the competition will do Furlong good though.

It will. Would have liked to see Williams in the match day squad though.
