Yeah but what are we going to get with the £2m fee being touted?
I’m all for a complete refresh but we need to be careful that we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

According to Alan Nixon we are prepared to sell Furlong this summer for £2m as he enters the last year of his contract.
Off yer go son, one half decent season doesn’t make you an international, maybe we could do a bogof deal to get shot of Townsend as well

And £2m is not enough !
Mind you, we don’t know the wage commitment with us ?
Would be nuts to sell our second best player this season. Been consistent all season and to be replaced? How much would it cost us to replace a player who does what he does? As well as he does? Even Carlos said he was one of the best full backs in the championship.
I’m not convinced that this would be the wisest move. If Furlong moves on that will leave us with no recognised right back and despite what others on this board think he’s not the worst full back by a long way. I don’t feel that this is a position that needs addressing as a priority.
Furlong should only be allowed to leave if we can recruit someone better and that is likely to be somewhat expensive. So, I would keep Furlong, he is an asset.
Furlong is a top player, totally committed and is in the top stats for almost every game. It’s a cost cutting exercise to fund new signings. Really bad move. With 12 months left on his contract it’s a business decision to fund new signings. Gives us a poor start to the season. It’s like losing 3 players for what he gives us.
