(*whatever the figure is since labour came into power).

So that since then, it doesn?t matter if you?ve been granted asylum since that time, you?ll be out when they come into power. Just think the message it will send? I know this will cost us our own human rights.. which i?ve not checked what that would be.

The bigger crisis we should be talking about is how private equity is taking over the UK, literally. What?s everyone?s thoughts on that?
Don't like Farage, he is yet another self serving snake oil merchant but given the state of the Conservative Party I can see Reform picking up a substantial number of votes next election unless things change drastically. I personally don't think 16 year olds should vote anyway but it's yet another own goal from Starmer-in days gone by you might have expected Labour to benefit from this lowering of the voting age but at present it's more likely to be Reform.

As for your last comment regarding private equity companies-totally agree. Their fingers are increasingly everywhere and their only goal is to make money regardless of the consequences.

And anybody know who funds the reform party?
Well apparently it?s these Private Equity companies. Careful what you wish for. The UK sure feels like the administrators are in already with the amount of asset stripping going on already.

Indeed. Reform claim that a lot of their funding comes from grass roots support and ex Tory donors (which is apparently correct) but the Open Democracy site also points out that alongside donations from ultra wealthy individuals, the Reform party also receives considerable financial support from overseas backers with links to tax havens and financial services. The latter account for more than 10% of donations which may not seem massive but is certainly over represented in comparison to our other political parties.

Of course all parties receive donations from individuals or companies with vested interests seeking political influence but this should be a concern.

I have always been a Tory voter but when Labour won the last election and given the poor performance of the previous Tory party, I was prepared to give them a chance. How misguided was I? This present government has to be the worst in my living memory, and that is a long time. Starmer is so weak and has made so many u-turns that he must be giddy. Add to this we have got Angela Raynor as deputy Prime Minister. To be honest, I would not put her in charge of a dogs home, let alone a country!
If we had a general election tomorrow I would not have a clue who to vote for. A sad state of affairs for British politics!

Couldn?t agree more Leicester which is why I have never voted. Starmer or Trump - if you had to choose I would sadly go for Trump! That says it all!!!

That Polanski guy sounds reasonable, although I don?t know too much about him - bit skeptical about Green party in general, if they abandon some of their stricter green policies and not be too left - i may consider them. That just shows how little I know about them.

Other than that, only Andy Burnham I would consider voting for if he became labour leader.

Until then, we?ll have to put up with the asset stripping of the UK.

Ive always felt the Green Party shouldnt be a party but a Government department within any elected Government. Theyre not interested in running the country. Its all about conservation which should be important whoever gets in.

Totally agree Boingy. As Regis said Andy Burnham seems a level headed guy but Starmer, Lammy, Cooper and Rayner are pathetic.

Never voted ever but I will next time and it will be Reform, The X for Reform will also be filled in on my 17 years olds form and lots of parents will do that, Something has to give with thousands entering daily and our own people like the homeless being first priority!

I pretty much agree with the points made by everyone here. But I still think some of you do get suckered into the far right rabbit hole and believe some of the spout they put out, we need to be discussing real stats and not those from untrustworthy outlets. I myself can get caught up in it and i’m honest enough to admit.

The other day I said I was concerned about Farage and private equity and we could be facing. Well i have sort of changed my stance as he’s having a discussion about this on GB news (somehow came on my feed, i’ll never subscribe to them). Anyway Here’s the link:

    https://youtu.be/G7jaiYrNBMM?si=yqdRD8iJ_WGbf8V5

I’ll give him credit talking about it, if he tackles it then fair play. But will he?
