It's not escaped my notice, so it won't have escaped Pep's, that GD could be crucial in deciding the PL this season. So City will be primed to rack up as many as they can against us. God help us.

We had one of our young lads on loan at Clitheroe a couple of months ago (I'm not naming him), he was playing on the right side of a back three and picked the ball up to take a throw-in, he made a complete arse of it and it was a foul throw. Five minutes later and he had another go and made a right horlicks of this one as well, another foul throw. It dawned on everyone that the poor kid hadn't the first idea how to take a throw in, and when he went to take the next one our centre-half told him to leave it and he'd take it. He didn't take another throw in for the rest of his loan spell.

This pantomime left quite a few Clitheroe fans asking the same question as Army, just what on earth do they actually do at Gawthorpe all week ?

Interesting point, sinkov, because every PL game and many other games in the EFL have innnumerable foul throws taken which are ignored almost every time. I watch Academy games and a lot of the officials just let those go as well, therefore, your tale about this lad does not surprise me one bit.

Of course, the problem then is that, if the officials enforce The Laws of the Game in respect of throw ins, they will be classed as nit picking and promoting themselves, therefore, as per instructions, they let them go and also ignore so many other Laws because they are instructed to 'let the game flow' All well and good, however, the Laws are ignored too much and this encourages players to puch this even further. Give me non-league every time when the Laws of the Game are enforced and, in the main, foul throws are given.

Just a note in finishing, Ashington won at Brighouse on Saturday and ensured that they won't be relegated this season with one game left to play at home on Saturday. It's been a hard season and I hope that things will improve next season and they will avoid the struggle.
