....hopefully....
Anyone bothered by how Notts have gone about pre season, take a butchers at Chesterfield. Played a couple of high profile friendlies, lost both comfortably without scoring and more importantly picked up some injuries to key players like Paddy Madden. By all accounts Sheff Utd were very physical with tackles flying in.
I’m happy with how Notts have gone about things.. yes we appear to have some niggles but Stu hasn’t risked anyone unnecessarily.
4 friendlies to go until the proper stuff starts and hopefully we start to see more of Robbo, Palmer, JJ, Tsaroulla among others in those.
It does worry me that we often seem to have multiple players out with "niggles" and that players sometimes arrive at Notts having barely missed a game in years and then sort of disappear with one thing or another.
I don’t think it’s as many as you think. Folk mention Randall, but he wasn’t always injured, he just wasn’t good enough for what we wanted. Though some may argue that he never really got a run. Morias was injured when he signed and seemingly couldn’t get fit, he’s a genuine worry given in 14/15 months he’s barely played. I hope Notts have learnt from that.
In the last couple of years they are the 2 that folk mention but not been many others injured during pre season.
We know that many of the players with niggles have trained or are in training. The only one that all is quiet on is Tsaroulla. Players with niggles are more likely to play in the season, but in PSF, it’s not worth the risk.
I saw a stat on X that Reynolds has played the most amount of minutes in pre-season so far - not sure what to make of that.
Bit of a concern that no forward other than Jatta has scored so far, despite Didzy and Scott getting game time. Mind you, I can’t remember a pre-season where we’ve had so little reporting on how we’ve been playing - not helped by Wycombe being behind close doors (I don’t remember seeing any highlights released by the club) and Duisburg being a little inaccessible for most fans.
Not overly concerned with strikers not scoring… we haven’t looked to play our strongest side. That includes the creative players and not just the scorers. Macca hasn’t scored for Millwall yet, but don’t think they will be concerned with that. Minutes in legs and all that. Though we have scored 6 goals in pre season which isn’t a poor return.
Afternoon All...Not sure if anyone else has posted this but the link shows some of the highlights of the game on
Saturday. Although in German its an interesting watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1H2c64l8TM
Given that young Ryley Reynolds has had so much game (admittedly PSFs) including the whole 90 minutes in the boiling heat against Duisburg, I think there has to be a high probability that he will be in the match day squad a few times this season. He is obviously fit.
Has anybody who has seen him play have any view of his abilities?
