I'm not sure that Starmer has made labour electable, but rather that successive Tory leaders have made the Tories unelectable, leaving Labour in a default position.

I did say ‘aided and abetted’ by Tory failings...of anything between the last 3 to 13 years. Fact is, I believe, the rolls have been reversed from unelectable Corbyn to successive Tory leaders...Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and possibly Sunak who are now equally unelectable albeit for rather different reasons.
We are back to 1997. I doubt Blair would have been elected with such a large majority back then had Thatcherism (by then in the slightly diluted form of Major) not been so discredited.
There aren’t even many/any potential leaders waiting in the wings, again just as there weren’t in 1997. Maybe Hunt, but I suspect he’ll bide his time. Of the rest...Gove, Braverman, Rees Mogg, Raab, Patel...really?

He was brought up a couple of weeks ago, Sith. Complete no-mark...but, tbf, he was suspended by the Labour Party as soon as his wrongdoing was exposed.

I mentioned this one a few weeks back Sith, but you have to realise its perfectly acceptable for Labour MP's - or former MP's who were MP's at the time of the transgression - to act in this way. Criticism is only allowed if you have a blue rosette

I understand RA throwing it around at the Tories, as he says. They are in power.
But you can go through the internet and find cheats/crooks/ ***ual deviants/ bullies etc across all parties.
It's amazing how they go into that job full of good intent, yet get corrupted over night.
    Power corrupts etc

So shout about the Tories, its true. But if you think not acknowledging the others is ok, then watch this space when it changes over
In 2021 Starmer said he was going to look into Labours staggering expenses.

    l

During an interview on Steph's Packed Lunch, the Labour Party leader was quizzed on his party's reportedly "staggering" expenses. Sir Keir stated that he would "look into" the report but failed to confirm or deny whether the reported figures were correct.

Steph McGovern said: "What is this in the paper yesterday about expenses and your top team’s expenses?

"There were some staggering figures about that and how much was being spent by some of your team."

The Labour Party leader replied: "I saw that and we are going to have a look at that.

"I have not had the chance to look at it yet but I did see it and so I will be looking at it."

    Never heard owt again?

It's time folks acknowledged what a cesspitt Westminster has become.

I think Starmer seems to be good decent man, and hopefully will make a good PM as im sure hes going to get his chance. As has said before that there seems a lack of 'talent' in the conservative party to step in, the same could also be said for labour too, if Starmer decided it wasnt for him right now, who would step up and be a good alternative?

I do wonder what part of the electorate he is trying to appeal to https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64580487

I would think support of the death penalty is relatively low and probably at its highest in the older population.

As someone 15 days short of being 69, I'm against Capital Punishment. Simply because too many people have been executed and than, at a later date, exonerated. You can't bring them back to life.....
