To be fair, Dire Straits are shyte.
It's the inspiration rather than the execution that counts. Technically gifted guitarists are 10 a penny.

When did I say my musical taste was better than someone else's?
You seem to have contracted aj's 'perception' issue.
Hard to compare different guitarists, can't really compare the more clean sounding Strat players like D.Gilmour, M.Knopfler, A.Summers, etc. to heavy crunchy Les Paul users like Alex Lifeson, Neil Young, etc.
All great in their own way, but can't stand Brian May!
They're not that bad?![]()
Obviously I cant be ersed searching through but don't worry, I'll let you know next time.Originally Posted by BertrandRussell

I had a pint at 4 O'Clock. Will probably get a carry oot for 7.30ish but won't be on here tonight.
Brian May is a great guitarist.Originally Posted by revolutionaryred
Lifeson's best stuff was on a Gibson 335 dot (not an LP) and Andy Summers is a Fender Telecaster man. I agree about it being subjective; a lot of newer guitarists are technically gifted but haven't ever played a decent riff/tune.
