My Dad and my father in law both had the Humanist service where they talk about the person that's passed away rather than that boring religious pysh when they sing hymns and pray tae phuck knows who.

no offence aj, but i find humanist funerals to be very empty hopeless experiences, i'd much rather hear the words of christ than what jock the coalman thought of my old man.

    No disrespect to any faith,

But I think like that but wouldn't like to say religious p...
But I would like a funeral where they talk of the said buc as there's loads to tell..

And I want people to cry but to enjoy meeting up with the people that have given up time to come and say Cheerios to the buc..that would be nice.

I will even take a Hankey into my coffin incase I start crying myself..

A funeral should be about the person who has passed away.

a funeral is also about the hope for the soul or spirit of the person, a send off into the great unknown, humanists major on the past because that is all they have.

My auld man's was that as well, my gran organized it. To be honest, his church was the boozer on a Sunday, so anything else would have been a tad hypocritical.

Correct. And that's all you need. You're there to celebrate the life of the person who has passed and making the funeral all about that person is the best send off you can give them. If you want to sing boring hymns that you don't know the words to or say prayers that mean f-all then fair enough.

I prefer a religious funeral myself the talking about the old storys is for after with a few drinks but its up to whoever is passing away or their family how they do their funeral and everyone should respect that who goes whatever way is chosen instead of calling it religious pish
