In response to the OP, Martin.

Top 5 strikers (no idea pre 1970's):

    1. King Charlie (Controversial, radical, frustrating- exciting)
    2. Zigga zagga Kevin Hector (Consistantly good)
    3. Ciccio Biaino (for a while we looked like we were going to revisit those surreal days of the 70's)
    4. Deano (would like to put Goddard cause he scored my favourite ever goal)
    5. Chrissy Martin (great finisher but his assists and holding play are at times sublime)

Phil Gee was great at this level.

Wish I'd seen Raich Carter and Peter Doherty but not quite that old

Hector was in a league of his own for me.

Why do you think he was called King Kevin? Simply the best!

Not the one at Old Trafford where Deano dummied Bruce on the half way line and Goddard nodded the resulting cross in the net at the Stretford Road end by any chance?

Years ago Reg Harrison was my manager in my playing days and I remember having a conversation with him about Raich Carter and Peter Doherty and he told me they were the two finest players he ever played with.

Classic goal that one by Goddard - audacious chip over Southall if I remember?

Anyone else remember Lee Mills debut goal against Bolton?
Best debut strike I've ever seen!

Central Match Live with Alan Parry and John Sillett (I taped it and kept it for a while)
Russell Hoult starts his debut in goal, Mills starts upfront (a £400,000 signing from Wolves)
2 minutes in Bolton take the lead - disaster!
81 minutes Dean Yates heads an equaliser and runs off celebrating with a mouth full of blood (like Dracula in a Derby shirt!)
85 minutes Mills picks the ball up 30 yards out rides a tackle then 'bang' a rising pile driver into the top corner!!!!! Immense - Welcome to Derby Lee!

My dad said the same. He used to know Reg Harrison - believe he lived near us in Wilmorton
