re: The romance of the fa cup

I would imagine any neutral would have seen the game as pretty exciting and end to end, certainly got their monies worth with 4 goals, a penalty and a sending off.

No doubt lacking in much quality, as you would expect from a 1st round cup tie with teams from the 4th and 5th division, a poorish pitch plus the fact it had an element of a local derby about it.

From a Pompey point of view, I thought we dominated for 44 minutes and should have been at least 3 goals to the good. Having gifted aldershot a goal (although it was excellently executed), they understandably had their tails up for half an hour at the start of the 2nd half, and deservedly went ahead, albeit another gift.

Credit to Pompey that they rallied, as I can think of many occasions when they have completely folded to teams more than 1 division below them in similar circumstances. Think we may even had gone on to won if Robinson hadn't been sent off.

Regarding the ref, yes he made a few mistakes, penalty looked a bit soft

Ref the Referee's its the lack of consistency this season thats been so obvious. If you book a player for an offence, you cannot then let another player off for the same offence, it really is & should be that simple.
