People were quite happy to condemn Fred Phelps and his 'God hates fags' brigade protesting at people's funerals, but this magazine is getting a pat on the back for seriously and deliberately offending many, many more people.
    Is it right?
I agree with what you said,I'm all for free speech but I sense a lot of hypocrisy with a lot of journalists.

It''s ok to make fun of Islamic religious figures but

True - in the first line. But your explanations of why were those I had specifically discounted as being options... (my thread, my options... )
But seriously - what I was asking was, forbye all the pish about extremism and the subject matter itself, is it right to deliberately offend people who have done nothing to you?[/quote]

I did answer your question. Perhaps you should have asked if it is ok to deliberately offend people who have done nothing to you - when that is your only goal. In this case there is another goal and it is fair to refer to that in answering your question. . There is rarely no other the only goal and in the case of charlie hebdo there ism clearly another goal than just offending.

im getting p1ssed off with all this dont be upsetting muslims stuff. they seem to upset everyone else and do they give a fek.

some muslims should learn to chill out, by all means worship thier religion the way others do but get things into perspective.

did any christians get upset when ricki fulton played the rev i am jolly. did they fek instead they thought it hilarious.

i dont have a problem with charlie hebdo printng what they do although i think they are a bit stupid when clearly they knew what the consequences would be, but i hope that in time they can teach some parts of the world that the best way to deal with this abuse is to laugh it off like most of us do.

meanwhile a muslim comedian actually get arrested in France for this jokey comment
