    re: Will Hughes today

I posted last season that in 60 years of watching the Rams Hughes was the best young player I had seen. He has certainly has come in leaps and bounds since then and is still learning. Macs coaching is also helping him. When Mac played him defensive midfield early in the he season he learned a lot. He has also stopped moaning at the ref so much. There was a good article in Mail recently that said with Gerald and Lampard retiring from the England team Hughes will be an ideal replacement. That coming from a London journalist is some commendation.

I don't know where you sit but I'm on halfway. Hughes is chuntering at the ref almost non-stop. In fact my neighbour said yesterday he's turning into a young Dennis Wise! I don't have too much problem with that. At least its not Joey Barton

My main gripe in all the adulation is the number of stupid fouls he gives away in dangerous situations. His naive tackle from behind directly led to their goal and its not the forst time!.
    Keep him upfield please.
Yes, he's never been a defender. I think the issue about giving away free kicks is simply experience rather than any slight on his ability.

As for being light weight, I don't agree now. Last season yes, he could be muscled out of games and there have been occasions where he's struggled because teams have been kicking lumps out of him as that's the only way they can get the ball from him. But I've also seen games where he holds his own against some

i thought he played well against bournemouth, theyre doing alright arent they?

As for arguing rattys initial point from a few years back. I, and most others, could see he had the potential to be a great player, it seemed ratty disagreed then and does still now. I think its fair to say he got that one wrong and still is getting it wrong. Not that he'll admit it eh ratty, no matter how many young player of the seasons and champ teams of the year he makes

So your saying the Ramondos comment that I was probably right means that Ramondo is wrong too?

Hughes at Bournemouth was the best performance Inhave seen in a Derby shirt since the 70s.

In 1986 I sat in an Indian restaurant and watched a guy in a Derby shirt eat an extra hot special order curry that would have blown the average mans head off. I was a regular and knew the owners well, the guy had been complaining his Vindaloo wasn't hot enough and sent it back twice before demanding the hottest sauce they dared serve him. They duly threw everything they could into a sauce that had more firepower than the atomic bombs dropped on Japan.

I sat open mouthed as this guy gulped it down with a spoon, no drink, no rice, no naan. Then licked his lips and said '"well it had a bit of a tang to it I suppose", before ordering another one with King Prawns in it!

    That was some performance![/quote]
