re: Clough and staff to leave Blades immediately

We all understand Nigel's foibles, all of us. But to fire a manager who took over when Sheffield United were dead last in League One and who has since steered them to an FA Cup and League Cup semi-final, not to mention being within one goal of reaching the playoff final at Wembley, is pretty awful.

Nigel's overall record of 49 wins, 30 draws and 20 losses in 104 games for them for a winning percentage of over 47% is also excellent and he has laid a solid player foundation at the Blades.

I questioned the timing of his firing at Derby and this is doubly true for this decision. I wish him success wherever he goes in the future.

Sometimes it goes deeper than what you see on the surface, although there was plenty on the surface..

True on the face of it, his performance hasn't been bad, but clearly many fans werent happy with the style of football and he has paid the price for that it seems.

Managers should never be judged on cup performances. And they're the only games FLN got it right in.

And any half competent manager could've kept us up in his first season.

Last season we were short odds title favourites yet finished 28 points off top, 19 off 3rd and played for draws at home to Fleetwood and Crewe - and lost!

We are very well rid of him. A poor manager and a pathetic little man.

Okay so this is all things we know to be true, and we sacked him for much of the same reasons, aside from the fact we never made the play offs under him.

However, "pathetic little man"? What did he do?! Haha. This last part of your post seemed extremely bitter. Did he say things against the club or what?

Herbert You are spot on Clough is arrogant petulant deluded stubborn and I will add ignorant His radio or television interviews were embarrassing and he often crossed the line when criticising certain players He almost ruined Thomas Cywka by slating him in public I think he will probably end up back in the conference Any way good luck for next season your to big for Div I
