And, as Balambam asked, what was there before the big bang? The big bang theory asks us to imagine, before the big bang, complete nothingness in which even time doesn't exist. So where did the primeval atom come from? Why did it suddenly decide to explode? How could this even happen if time doesn't exist?

I doubt we will ever be able to answer these questions - at least in this life.
The scientists refer to a singularity being the origin of the universe. I just can’t find out what one is

It seems there are lots of them

That sounds more like a Plurality to me.

Anyway the Big Bang and the origin of life are billions of years apart. Why did the creator have to leave it so long.

I'm not necessarily suggesting that there is a "creator" OC.

But I am thinking that there has to be a form of intelligence (of which everything is part of, including us) that is organising stuff.

    Let's face it, we haven't a clue.

Re the "singularities", yes, that is the in vogue theory at the moment. But no one can see the true bigger picture.

Perhaps black holes swallow so much stuff that eventually they explode (a big bang), and all we can see is the result of one of these that happened 13.8 billion years ago. Perhaps the total universe is much, much bigger than the one that we are able to observe.

    It's all theory...no one knows.

I can not think in these terms, because if nothing existed ,how could all this come about? Something existed and to me that is Consciousness.

Out to play that game 'pétanque' now.
