BS/Blood - hope you are well guys! Still recovering from the journey last night and roadworks on the M1 must be 27/7 every day or I am doomed!

Still absolutely love this quote from Cloughie and it was said so naturally - "I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one" Absolute class!

Alright BS and AL, I hope you are both well.

David Peace's The Damned United is an excellent book, but the Clough family have totally distanced themselves from it and Johnny Giles sued over his portrayal in it, and as such all mention of him was removed from the paperback.

The film is great too, but I think like his Shankley book Red or Dead (not anywhere near as good as the damned united) a lot is just fiction generated from a rough idea of what actually happened, from other books and tv interviews.

I was told by a Man United fan at Euro 2004 that our 3-5 victory at their sh ithole was Cloughie's favourite match.

Another classic quote from the great man was "if God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he would have put the grass up there".

Duncan Hamilton's Provided you don't kiss me is an excellent book that really highlights what he was like at the end, sadly an alcoholic basically.

When I was a kid we had relatives in a place called Beeston Nottingham. My uncle was quite a big fish in the town and used to frequent what was then described as a working mans club somewhere near.

One of his drinking buddies there was Brian Clough. Also Gary Sobers the cricketer who hit 6 sixes for those who may remember.

This is the sixties and there was a very much a drinking culture at the time.
Problem is that when booze becomes ingrained in a lifestyle its just a short steps to dependency then to addiction

Alls good here and hope with you all too

Have another couple of Cloughie quotes

Anybody who can do anything in Leicester but make a jumper has got to be a genius on Martin O Neill

The River Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years

If a player disagrees with me we sit down and talk about it for 10 minutes then we decide I was right

The River Trent quote is so Cloughie! I love guys like him who were there own person rather than conforming to the crowd! F uck the FA for overlooking him for the top job!
