Yes Dave let go, but we let go too soon. Germany should never have been left to become the most powerful nation in Europe again after the atrocities they committed twice in a generation.
It should really have ceased to exist as a independent nation for say a hundred years. That is lenient in my view considering they wanted everyone under the jackboot for a thousand years.
Some of them were made an example of but many got away with a slap on the wrist and got good jobs. Some were recruited by the Yanks. Us and the Americans helped build the country up again while our people were still on rations.
It's all about politics mate, the west wanted Germany as a buffer state against the Soviets.
Al is right about the atrocities that Putin is carrying out, but he's no Hitler or Stalin, they exterminated millions for their own ends.
In thirty years time we will be trading with Russia again, and people will be saying let it go.
It's all politics, the politicians decide who is a friend and who is an enemy and use us as cannon fodder to fight their wars. Then they change sides and it all starts again. We learn nothing.

I’ve often got into conversation on holidays with Dutch people and their hatred of the Germans, even now, is in a whole different level to ours.

On a personal level I have nothing against the Germans and seem to get in quite well with them.

Never really had a problem with Germans although they have shown their true colours on their poor support of Ukraine and the worry about their gas flow! After the atrocities Hitler committed - you would have thought the Germans would show more compassion to those Ukrainians being bombed!

Merkel was a disgrace! She opened her friendship doors to illegal immigrants so perhaps Germany can keep them all!

Germany very quick though to dictate to other EU Countries on financials!! Isn’t the supply of heavy weaponry to Ukraine a financial commitment and solidarity?

Still say there are good and bad in every religion, colour and nationality! People slaughtered Johnson but God help us or the Ukrainians with some of the other EU leaders including being racist t wats!!
