That money could have been used to strengthen the squad and help us stay up, but it wasn't, not Eddie's fault, he gifted us the money to use as we saw fit. Whatever the causes of our relegation, Eddie Howe wasn't one of them.
    Spot on mon ami.

If that’s the case gentleman why didn’t he play , why do they need to buy more centre forwards now,

I’ve posted many times that the season is 38 games and we weren’t good enough to stay in the league ( it doesn’t lie ) , wood traditionally finished seasons stronger , however we’ll never know the outcome of that.

It’s not the entire reason we went down but the mechanics and togetherness got disjointed, Eddie threw us of course our fate was sealed,

You could debate it forever and I’d tend to agree with you if he played every week for them and was the 25 million player they bought - as you both pointed out - he isn’t wasn’t worth that money and yet they still took him on a buy out clause.

To buy a player for twice his value and not play him every game makes me think , there was a bit of disjoint Burnley.

But he did play army, Eddie signed him on Thursday Jan 13th, he was straight into the team on Saturday January 15th, and he played every game until the 23rd of April. He signed half way through the season, they had 19 games left, Wood started in 15 of them and came on as sub in 2 of the others.

Indeed he did, sinkov. The reality is that he may not have scored many, however, his value when defending corners and ser pieces was invaluable to Newcastle. In the first 19 matches they had won 1 and drawn 8 and scored 19 goals but conceded 42.
When Chris played for the Toon the won 10 matches, drew 2 and lost just 5 and scored just 21 goals, of which he scored just 2, however they only conceded 19 and he played a big part in that, although, as happens with lots of players, his value was not recognised by many Toon fans, however, Eddie sang his praises for the part he played in turning results around. Team game and every player did his bit.

Sounds like the Chris Wood we know but he would then bag a brace in the next game...

Underperformed? What they should say is that they managed to put one cross into the box which was nowhere near him, he did not get any service at all. They then substituted him and put Fraser on and Fraser put more crosses into the box in 25 minutes than they had managed in the previous 65 minutes. Guess what ----nobody got on the end of any of them until Anderson managed to hit the bar in the 88th minute.
He lonked play up well when he had the chance, however, Newcastle were nowhere near the team that had played City. They missed Bruno and Maximin was his usual self, scoring a great goal but making a lot of poor decisions during normal play.
I don't envy Chris because he will be kicked into touch with the new money men.

You are joking I hope Supersub6, Wood's contract will be worth a fortune.
