    The BBC’s director-general is a former Tory councillor. Robbie Gibb, Theresa May’s former director of communications is widely perceived as ‘overseeing’ BBC news output, and the BBC chairman was recommended for his role by Boris Johnson after arranging a £800,000 loan for er Boris Johnson. Anyone who hasn’t realised the BBC is now just another arm of Conservative Party communications hasn’t been paying enough attention.

    As for the policy Gary Lineker was talking about, it’s clearly abhorrent, designed to appeal to the worst people in the Tory base. He was right to point out that the language Braverman uses is reminiscent of 1930s Germany. She’s an appalling human being.

    To be fair I don't watch a lot of the BBC as it's utter sh*te as with most stuff on TV these days and about to cancel my TV tax.

    However I do think it's wrong when Albanians and the like can freely enter our country and rape and murder when they're perfectly safe in Albania!! We have enough of those nutters in our own Police force. I have nothing against them entering legally but something needs to be done. The free mason knight of the realm has no real ideas either.

    I'm more bothered about the fact that Lineker is a terrible TV presenter than his political viewpoint. It would be doing us all a favour if the BBC did sack him as he would end up on BT Sport, which is fine with me as I don't have that. He could take Jermaine (I hate Notts) Jenas with him as well.

    So you and Gary Lineker are seemingly pro slavery then? The policy is to try and get those trying to get over here to go through official channels. Stopping the small boats stops the slavery they will end up in if they don't die or face a very dangerous journey. Is it a perfect policy, no. But surely better than allowing hundreds if not thousands becoming slaves in this country without access to healthcare or support right?

    The only problem is nobody with any experience of the situation think it will work. It is merely an attempt by the government to distract from the catastrophic state of the country after 13 years of Tory rule.

    If forced slavery in this country is as big a problem as you claim, shouldn't the government be tackling that as a matter of priority?

    What are those ‘official channels’ that are open to an Iranian woman fleeing Islamist persecution or a young man leaving war torn Eritrea? You might struggle to say because Braverman herself couldn’t say when facing the select committee a few months ago;

    As for slavery, Sunak has clearly said people fleeing persecution, war or famine who end up in this country without permission will be fair game to be enslaved without any recourse to official channels. A slaver’s paradise.

    Just let them all in whether genuine asylum seekers or free loaders, it's not like we can't cope already with issues such as housing, education, health care, inflation etc etc oh and corrupt referees

    If the government truly wanted to stop small boats they could set up an asylum processing centre in France. It would stop at that point. The gangs making money from this and people risking their lives in the English channel would be over at a stroke.

    This government don't. They would rather use this issue as a distraction from their complete ineptitude at running this country.
    It plays well to the frothing gammon and their thick racist base.

    Don't be distracted.

    You can't just set up a processing centre in another country I doubt very much the French would agree and they'd rather not have them and look what happened when they had the camps. It'll end up just the same as then.

    I've no idea what the answer is and neither have the government or the so called opposition.
