I fully expect Nemane to be first choice next season, but not Chicks.

He’s going to have to step up but some players can do just that, can’t see us bringing one in with TAR in the squad.
Agree on Chicks, he does nothing wrong as such but he’s not going to offer anything attacking wise 1 on 1.

I still wonder if we’re going to stick with our version of the 3-5-2 formation. Teams figured out how to make it really difficult for us towards the end of the season and started to exploit our weaknesses. Macca became really isolated and we as a team became rather predictable, if not hard to stop. Our substitutions were always the same and i think we are/were coming to the point of needing a refresh/slight re-think on our tactics…..I am a complete amateur though and trust LW to make the right calls.

We clearly need a new goalkeeper now. An established goalkeeper if you ask me….L2 is a bigger step up than many think, especially if we want to somehow go for another promotion!

Being ruthless I think the following will struggle in L2….I fully expect some pelters.

Slocombe - Keep as backup, I love the guy
Brooks - needs much more game time
Baldwin - Can’t afford the lapses he’s had this year
    Cameron - See Baldwin
Rawlo - Probably the wrong system for him with 3-5-2 in L2
Nemane (if asked to play as RWB
Chicksen (if asked to play as LWB
Bajrami - Needs a massive season but he is capable
Austin - Super sub, rarely performs when starts the game
JOB - one of my faves, but his legs must be about gone now!

That’s a lot of players, but I think with a change in formation and tactics we could get better out of some of those players at a higher level. I’d love to be proved wrong but with our current squad and style of play we’re a mid table side in the league above.

I think Macca will need more support up top to bring him into games a bit more. We know he can play off a main striker as well so I’m a bit surprised that we never tried Scott as the main number 9 and Macca drifting about off him….again, a re-think on our formation could accommodate this. The same with Bajrami, he clearly has a lot of talent but where do we fit him in….midfield if you ask me, but how? Alongside Palmer at the base of a 4-2-3-1 with Ruben, Bostock and Scott behind Macca or Morais?

Don’t mean to be negative after such a glorious season but I think work needs to be done.

Tbh, I reckon this is all a bit harsh on Nemane. He’s been superb. Ran his legs off in most games. I know he struggles to do 90 at that speed every game, but on Saturday he was a massive threat and kept it up for the 120.
I’d sign him up. Defenders must hate the idea of him bombing down towards them.

He can also defend, as shown by preventing Boringwood scoring.

Nemane, Bostock and Cameron kept us in it on Saturday….others joined the game later on! Nemane was incredible, how he had so much energy in extra time was a credit to him, great performance.

    Agree 100%.
And why can't he build on this season, and as a 25 y-old add another 10%? L2 left-backs are as ripe for a roasting as NL left-backs.

I'm very confident that LW will refine his 3-4-2-1 system and retool it with a few upgrades. But why dump something that worked to the extent of 107 pts? He won't.
Often he played a midfield diamond, but seems to prefer a kind of double pivot in Palmer and Bostock.

So the main ways we can retool around that are really athletic upgrades in 1) RCB - pace, strength, great one-on-one defender when covering for the RWB out wide 2) LWB - dynamic, fast athletic player who can both defend and get in behind the opposition.

I wonder if we'll look at Jack Bridge again. He'd definitely add more of a threat going forward.

Ashmore would be a fantastic signing.

I'd stick Bostock alongside Palmer in that formation and put Austin in attacking midfield.
