Carlos was made for Valencia as the defence were shockingly poor and he?s ground out some good results so fair play to him.

Carlos before he left couldn?t get anything more out of the players and Mowbray is in the same boat. So for me the quality of most of our players is average at best. Shocking keeper - Furlong good going forward but loses sight of his man defending consistently - love JM but he lacks quality - Mowatt too slow and passes sideways and backwards - Grant and Johnston decent but lack the end product - Armstrong shows very little desire and effort despite getting a poor service, Diangana is a complete fairy. So in conclusion the team lacks quality and a cutting edge. We are where we are because we are NOT good enough.

I would start Griffiths and Diakite on Tuesday for sure and Dike needs to be unleashed.

That said - I can see nothing but a win for Bristol and Coventry when we go there. What does that tell you?
Cant disagree with many of your comments about individual players but whilst we certainly are not Premiership quality, I still honestly believe that we aren't miles away from those clubs in the top six.

Our most obvious failing is lack of goals but I still think that this can be rectified with the players we have within the squad with a change of tactics and more work in certain areas. Whether it will come in time for finishing up in the top 6 this season is the moot point. But yes, I would start Dike and give him a chance and, given the number of goalkeeping errors at the other end of the pitch, it is maybe time to start Griffiths too. As for Diakite, I think there is much more to come from him but who would you get him to replace? Bartley? Mowatt?

Anyhow, good to see both Boingy and now yourself posting back on here Al and hope you are well.

You are right, we don?t know how he would do next season (he hasnt kept them up yet but the signs are good) If he keeps them up that will be a great achievement in itself. All to see.

Not one single player including Fellows could cut it in the Premier. Are you confident of three points at Bristol? Well that tells the story.

Put Diakite and Griffiths in Tuesday and start Dike. I have mentioned quality but those two misses from JM and Dike alone tells you we lack it!
Welcome back AL, I agree totally with the comments, Furlong attacking wise is good but defensively very poor, caught out of position again sat for the free kick with the hapless Diangana trying to cover, massive clear out required in the close season starting with Wildsmith, we?ve had our share of poor keepers in our time but this guy is nearing the top of the list

CC work rate and ethics are the best I?ve seen I just wish he had that little less conservatism I think then he would have the lot

3-0 at half time. Under Carlos theyve gone from bottom of La Liga to 9th and just one point from a Qualification for Europe. Unbeaten in the last 10. 6 wins 4 draws.

Although I found it difficult to listen to his interviews due to his rushed manner of speaking and probably the accent, I clearly remember not that long before he left (of his own accord) that he made it clear that players should improve themselves so they can move to a better club just as he was always trying to improve himself (to move to a better club).
He's gone, perhaps we need someone else like him but he's gone and he ain't ever coming back.

Its just one of those things. We finally get a manager with focus and drive and he goes because his boyhood club is in danger of relegation. Bad timing as far as we are concerned but a saviour for Valencia. Really enjoying watching their matches. 3 left. La Liga is full of really good footballers very comfortable on the ball.
