Autos was the aim so I?m guessing where around 8th to10th lowest with a hope of getting bang for our buck.
It was an article that came out a couple of weeks ago but I can?t find it now.
It wasn?t the budget, it was the current playing wages of league 2 after the Jan window.
    We were 12th.

We should probably take that “12th” with a pinch of salt, but the owners themselves have always stated that we will never have the biggest budget in the division because that’s not the business model.

However, this past year has been the first one in which player sales have potentially reached ?1 million (for Macca, Nemane and Crowley), so it will be interesting to see how this impacts next season’s playing budget. Then again, one-off off-field improvements like The Nest, sound system, etc, don’t come cheap, so there may be no discernible change next season.

That 12th thing was clearly nonsense. It had us below Morecambe, who are in financial meltdown and have been for some time.

You can kind of just tell a teams budget from the sort of players theyre signing. I dont think were right up there with the highest payers, but one of the more disappointing things of this season is we havent taken advantage of two of them, MK and Carlisle, having an absolute disaster. We signed Gordon and Tsaroulla despite them having offers from Crawley, Platt despite him having an offer from Bradford, and got Bass despite him having a great loan spell at Wimbledon and them wanting him. That tells you we pay competitive wages for the league.

We saw it last season and many times this, with the biggest of all about to be confirmed on the back of the current 1pt in 12.

If you notice, he's stopped talking about 'the business end of the season' since this disastrous run started because we all know he hasn't taken care of his.

Injuries, a dubious squad and player performances can't excuse the choking.
That's why I think it's promotion or bust for him - fans, players, owners will have lost faith in him and it'd be a downward spiral.
    Good post that 👌

Yeah all that datas based on an educational guess, I?m sure the owners will have a reasonable idea of what other clubs wage bills are based on past accounts and the quality of recent ingoings and outgoings.

They have always stated they want to have a competitive budget for a promotion challenge, 12th isn?t competitive. I?d like to think we?re no lower than 10th and would be actually disappointed if it was.

If Walsall don?t get promoted then you will struggle to find a much bigger choke job at this level than what Mat Sadler will have managed. Weren?t they 12 points clear at the top at one stage

The other clubs will want them in a 2-leg semi-final.

When you're on that type of run, the play-off chances aren't 25%. It's quite a bit lower, meaning more chance for the other 3.

Might be us that gets them provided we actually qualify. I'll still be surprised and totally fuming if we miss out.

Could our squad budget be about 6th? Certainty seems very plausible when I do my little list on a scrap of paper.

I think you can pretty much call it joint fourth.

Theres three, Vale, MK and Carlisle, I think are pretty clearly the highest. Then were in a cluster of teams with the likes of Doncaster, Bradford, Gillingham, Fleetwood and Walsall that all look much of a muchness.
