Both Crowley and JJ are under contract and if we're serious about promotion this season we need then both. Selling either of them is pure promotion suicide in my eyes. JJ I think will see out his contract, Crowley may go for the extra £££ in his pocket though. We seem more obsessed with balancing the books than gaining promotion!!
I don't recall anyone saying we're not a selling club anymore, and if they did, they were talking rubbish. Practically every football league club is a selling club if the right offer comes in. I think what the owners did say is that they would only sell a player if they consider the price to be right, and I'm sure the amount of time remaining on a player's contact is a factor in determining that price. Many clubs won't pay over the odds for a player they could get for free in a year's time, but when the likes of MK Dons come into silly money then sometimes you get outlandish bids.

As for being more obsessed with balancing the books than gaining promotion, well, as this club knows from past experience, if you don't balance the books then matters on the field quickly become a sideshow. Balancing books isn't an option, it's a necessity.

When have the club ever said that?
I’d say this is the first time in years we’re a selling club because we have assets worth selling.
I don’t think the club wanted to sell Langstaff. But the second the offer comes in and the player expresses a desire to leave, what choice do they have in reality? Nemane might be a bit different as I’ve no idea what desire we had to sign Grant + we got a fee.
The club have said in the past we’re not in a position where we have to sell players. That’s very different to not being a selling club! Every club is a selling club if the player wants out. Pep didn’t want to sell Cole Palmer but the player wanted to leave, so he left!
I’ll be very surprised if we don’t get a couple more players in by the deadline.

Things are different in the EFL, surely you are aware of that and seen clubs have points deducted for none compliance of SCMP. That could be why Notts have cashed in. Like you, I have zero idea of the clubs finances. All I know is that I trust the bros to do what’s right for NCFC. IMO they haven’t put a foot wrong.
The thing with this Notts regime and I’m baffled that most haven’t cottoned on, is that transfers or rather possible transfers are rarely rumoured until they are done. We have no idea who we are targeting or why there are delays. Football transfers can be complex and not as simple as meeting a clubs valuation or players expected salary. How often do we hear from players that ‘they first heard of the clubs interest several weeks ago’?
For what it’s worth I don’t think Notts will sell JJ or Crowley unless either wants out, the way they both played Sunday tells me they are 100% with Notts.

Who has said we are selling? We can't do anything about clubs making an offer but no-one has said we are selling Jones or Crowley.

I think most on here are more obsessed that they think we’re balancing the books, Macca was inevitable and Nemane split opinion on here anyway with his defensive frailties.

Like most Notts have always been a selling club the main difference is that in recent seasons we now have players other clubs want to buy.

That is almost entirely down to the recruitment team who have clearly done a good job.

Championship have different rules to League 1 and 2. Championship clubs have been deducted points for breaches but league 1 and 2 not so. League 1 and 2 clubs have been docked points for not paying wages or paying a fee upfront due to financial difficulties but not for breach of SCMP, because to get around SCMP, an owner can just put money in directly

But it hasn’t got us relegated has it. It got us promoted from notoriously one of the hardest leagues to get out of.

So maybe judge them on whats *actually* happened, rather than what half this board wants to happen so they can say ‘told you so’.

There's been a few posts debating if a Notts are a "selling club".

It's funny this is even discussed. All clubs are a selling club. Real Madrid, Liverpool .,name any club

The interesting point is that Notts have become a buying club again.
