Yes
No
Sorry he?s clueless.
Donny set up not too different to us and we both attempted some form of press, there?s was much better than ours !
But the interesting thing was how they deployed their tall quickish striker to run onto long balls down the channels to escape our press?our tall quickish striker is toiled to stand and get balls drilled straight at him, with no one near him.
Clueless
Maynard has learned nothing about team selection. Motivation and energy is lacking. Tactics so guile-less as to be random in the extreme. All so depressing for fans and players alike. The players mood shows too, they are being asked to play in a pattern they aren't comfortable with, the fans can see this but Maynard can't, hence the boos.
By recognising there are too many players in unfamiliar positions during our slow build ups rather than being used positively in quicker ones, other managers can adjust their defence far quicker than they ought to be able to.
It might be said that he's been moderately successful as we are in the play-offs but that has recently been negated by enemy managers working out out how to negate our "tactics", if there were another five games to play we wouldn't be there, performances have gone downhill so much.
And now here we are, nobody's afraid to play Notts County.
I did wonder which moron would blame the fans for our problems before blindly telling any nay sayer to **** off.
Congratulations TheBlackHorse - you have won idiot of the weekend!
Play offs are a new situation for him and that could yet prove to be the making of him, but if we don't win promotion via that route and he is sacked, he will leave us in exactly the same position as he found us, 6th. Not a disaster but not the progress some are claiming he's made. It's the absolute definition of standing still. The only progress he'll have made losing in the play offs is a personal one, not for the club, but from the incredibly low bar he set himself at the back end of last season.
We all know that win or lose the playoffs, Maynard is going nowhere. Bros don't exactly come across as people quick to make changes. They are very conservative, although it appeared that they were quite ruthless in culling Radar staff recently. It's up to them, they have set their course on a particular football style and we have the "coach" they need to sail that ship. Titanic anybody?
I think last year Maynard was saved because the squad wasn't up to scratch, hence the bizarre Montague statement saying Williams was lucky and Maynard was unlucky. This year he has no such arguments and no Montague to protect him which is the main aspect here. The brothers don't like chopping and changing but they are driven by data and the data does not look good. In a very weak League 2, we failed to achieve the goal of automatic promotion and limped into the playoffs with fans not happy with performances. How many shots on target did we have yesterday? When was our first shot on target? This isn't a unique event either, this will be his undoing
Whilst your entire post is toe curlingly embarrassing can I just pick up on your point about Jatta.
The man is hardly ever facing the ball. It needs a bell in it to give him a clue. He has the uncanny ability to never be able to read the flight of a ball. Id honestly be sending him for an eye test!! Perhaps he has been concussed since Xmas?
His first touch is so bad he seldom gets a second. His chesting technique makes me f***** weep.
Strikers should come towards the ball arms up and out thereby denying defenders to get around him then he should lean back slightly taking the ball high on the chest to allow it drop at his feet. He runs at it bends down and leaning forward, chests the ball years away from his body. It's awful
Who is coaching him??
He's physically the ideal target man.
How often of late has he run into the right or left channel to receive a ball from Bedau or Macari/Macdonald on the other side?
None is the answer
For 2 months now he's been bloody awful.
Yet he plays!
He plays because Stuart Little doesn't have any other idea.
Why hasn't he given Traore or Morias a chance of late. They honestly could not have done any worse
The weird thing is whatever you say about SM and the team they were creating a lot of chances and the xg data supported that but in recent weeks and especially at home it?s just totally dried up, we look absolutely toothless.
We?re too weak in the 10s, there?s bits I like about Grant but he offers no goal/assist threat, whittakers not ready and we?re still weak at wb with JJ not fully fit.
On SM I just don?t know why we didn?t throw the kitchen sink at them from minute one. If we had lost 6-0 I would have took that more than passively loosing 2-1 and passive would be the word I would use to describe this team and the manager.
I sat through to the end of all the crap mangers we have had, even Steve Thompson. But yesterday I didn?t watch to the end and didn?t really care when I saw Jatta had scored.
The home games have been a really difficult watch and I can?t see that changing with Mr Maynard. I understand the brothers want to play possession based football but surely we to play positive possession based football and not the slow crawl side to side we are currently playing.
I don?t think Mr Maynard is capable of changing this way of playing so I believe we have to make a change (after the play offs of course however that ends) not to the basic plan but how we implement it in order to achieve more consistent results especially at home.
