I accept he might be a 'good' coach if you go by the coaching manual alone. If he took an exam on coaching by the book I don't doubt he would pass. He's just not an inspirational or motivational coach. He's methodical and thorough, but something is lacking. He's definitely not the worst we've had, but I've never seen him as a winner.

Of course we have been utter toilet in some games, but a fair chunk of games you would put down as ?if we take our chance we win that.?

No doubt we have dropped off in the last three months, especially at home. Clearly, he has room to improve and things to learn. Yesterday was thoroughly disappointing, but Whitaker being outmuscled and Jones pulling out of a tackle cost us both goals.

Maynard is not Pep, but he also is not the worst appointment in football history. He has spent half a season with a depleted backroom staff and one of his most creative forces was not adequately replaced.

I think a voice or two from outside the Radar bubble would do him the world of good.
Funny you mention Pep as he for two months was losing on a regular basis and he had no idea how to stop that too.

Confidence is also huge a couple of defeats can turn into a slippery slope look at Arsenal now.

You can be a good coach like Pep/Arteta as an example but at times not much you can do if your players arent able to perform plus these two like to jump about like loons too so cant throw hands in pockets jibe either !

As the saying goes its better to be a lucky coach than a good one.

The home games have been a really difficult watch and I can?t see that changing with Mr Maynard. I understand the brothers want to play possession based football but surely we to play positive possession based football and not the slow crawl side to side we are currently playing.

I don?t think Mr Maynard is capable of changing this way of playing so I believe we have to make a change (after the play offs of course however that ends) not to the basic plan but how we implement it in order to achieve more consistent results especially at home.
LW played possession based football and it was very entertaining, Maynard just goes to play not to lose and inevitably ends up losing because it's a losing mindset

IMO we have not progressed under Maynard, quite the opposite. It feels like we've got Ardley back. We play a very toothless possession based game which is ineffective and boring. I've watched every game this season and regardless of what the stats may have us believe, we do not have the grit and desire that's required to be successful with the current setup. The xG stats in particular are very misleading.

People get too hung up on these possession stats, most of the time the opposition actually WANT us to have most of the possession because they know we're too slow and laborious, I expect Wimbledon to adopt this tactic in both legs. They'd be absolutely mental not to.

If I were the Wimbledon boss I’d instruct my players to apply the high press for, at least the first 30 minutes of the initial leg, with the intention of causing a mistake and grabbing a goal or two. As per yesterday that could knock all of the stuffing out of Notts players and fans alike and, maybe, that would be tie over as we seemed to have little idea of how to get back into the Doncaster match once they were 2-0 up.

I thought Notts started the game very well yesterday with an intensity not usually demonstrated in home games.
The turning point being the decision by the referee to stop the game, for an apparent injury to 27 Crew , once the ball reached their GK. The accepted norm was that the referee was only supposed to blow for a stoppage when a head injury or a very serious injury was obviously apparent ?
The game was restarted with a dropped ball to their GK at least 12 yards further forward than the stoppage position with Donny immediately opening the scoring.
A strange bench yesterday considering Notts needed to win the game with neither Traore or Morais being considered to be worth a gamble.

As stated on BBC Radio Nottm , Notts and Wimbledon have similar form stats since February with Notts 19/51 pts and WFC 18/48 pts.
Does this coincidence with the diminished coaching team and the departure of 2/3 of the management team ?
Maynard is obviously still training at the coal face but is it right that he should be blamed and abused for the current situation ??
Someone yesterday told me of the worst kind of abuse, allegedly, directed towards SM and his family which is entirely unacceptable .
All clubs have injuries during the season but the September injury to Jodi Jones v Gillingham
certainly derailed a fine start to the season and long term injuries to Robertson., Tsaroulla , Austin, Ness amongst others have also contributed to a disappointing end to the season.
In addition Maynard should not be held responsible for individuals missing chances or making errors.
I would say that there has been some tactical naivety particularly v Salford , Chesterfield , Walsall and Cheltenham.
Football is indeed a results based occupation and a managerial tightrope .
If SM is not sacked , the club certainly needs to bring in additional experienced back room staff and a review of fitness , strength and conditioning .
I was amazed at the massive number of back room staff that DRFC paraded out for the presentation yesterday.

I’m impressed that you stuck around after the game - I couldn’t bring myself to applaud the players and management on the lap of appreciation, which says everything about a season where we ended up in the playoffs.

We would have finished 5th last season with 72 points, but wouldn’t have made the playoffs in the 3 preceding seasons. 72 points would have left us 10th in 2021-22, which feels like a truer reflection of a side that lost 14 games.

Adam Hassall said on RN that Traore had also taken a knock.
