Feeling in rather reflective mood on the eve of what could be a hugely defining day/period for our club, many other clubs and by default all of Scottish football. The potential consequences of all of this are unthinkable.
All of us have in some way or another been impacted on by the global crisis at present. Working amongst it, what has been clear is that the sense of community, collaboration and shared sacrifice has been critical in our local and national response. Not everything has been perfect, countless people have suffered significant loss yet the sense of togetherness has been palpable.
I think this togetherness mirrors our football club. The disaster we have seemingly relentlessly endured eventually replaced by a genuine sense of togetherness that seems to be across the club with fans and players in particular as tight as I can remember for some time.
Our own club's situation aside, it is to me absolutely disgusting that Hearts can bring such action in the context of the real suffering and loss that has been felt across our society. Football is obviously important but has to remain in context. This legal challenge to me is a slur on the suffering and loss of families across Scotland who have lost much more than league position. Whilst I can see Partick Thistle can feel hard done by due to a game in hand, Hearts were not even hard done by by the decision of the member clubs. In fact many other clubs have been much harder hit by this, particularly play off chasing clubs (title chasing for Falkirk) In general they have all dealt with this with relative dignity in my eyes despite the obvious disappointment that has come.
We have as a club lost the right to celebrate our achievements that have been earned. We have lost the ability to trade on level footing with our opponents for next season, yet we could face even harsher punishment. This is unfair.
It is easy to say that the court case should be thrown out and is rather frivolous, yet I am sure most of us will struggle to sleep until the outcome is known.
I for one am hoping Scotland for once can celebrate success above rewarding failure.
Part of me will want revenge and punishment for Hearts, but actually I think that would be in some ways worse given the current situation.
Good luck to us all in a fight we shouldn't be facing and apologies for reading my ramblings if you have actually made it this far!
